Morphettville Parks will back up from racing last Saturday with another strong eight race card this weekend. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

[crownbetoffer]

Race One (14:43) : Medallion Homes Handicap (70) 1950m:

Back Me: 9 Dawn Of Hope (Bet Now: $10.00) isn’t the most reliable horse to follow but gee I am quite keen on her prospects here. She ran over 1800m on the course proper a fortnight back where she got a long way back in the run yet finished off her race quite nicely late when fourth to On A Dream, beaten three lengths. Looks suited up to 1950m and though her winning strike rate is poor, I think she’ll take some beating here.
Big Danger: 3 On A Dream (Bet Now: $3.40) is a tough son of Blevic who did a huge job to win over 1800m on the course proper two weeks ago given he was three wide no cover for the trip and was off the bit before the turn but he just kept finding under hard riding from Lindop to get the job done. Not quite as dynamic on the Parks track, but it’s hard to ignore the way he is racing at the moment.
Long Shot: 6 Smackwater Jack (Bet Now: $12.00) is a Naracoorte visitor who has to step up a fair bit in class but he looks capable of it after an impressive win on his home track over 2000m last time out when ridden beautifully by Pannell who had the six year old just off the speed before pouncing at the top of the straight and going on to win quite comfortably. He has failed in town previously, but I am willing to give him another look now he’s in winning form.

Race Two (15:18) : Schweppes Maiden Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Needy Rocket (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Murtajill gelding for David Jolly that debuted over this track/distance in July where he got back in the run and just stayed there behind Ashero, who hasn’t quite on with it since but did run okay recently in town. Recent trial from Needy Rocket was quite encouraging and this isn’t a strong maiden.
Big Danger: 1 Artful Jack (Bet Now: $6.50) probably is the best credentialed horse in the race given the races he ran in during the Winter and who he was alongside and just behind, including the likes of Zunbaqa and Ghenwaa. That form should hold him in really good stead and is one of the hardest to beat.
Long Shot: 8 Addie Lane (Bet Now: $8.50) looked to trial well here prior to resuming on the course proper a fortnight back where she was quite safe in the market given the Stokes/Tourneur combo but she failed to fire a shot when finishing down the track behind Federosa. Convinced she is much better than that and I can see her bouncing back hard here.

Race Three (15:53) : John ‘Arkwright’ Edwards 90th Handicap (75) 1250m:

Back Me: 5 Miss Murra (Bet Now: $6.50) is a mare who looks well placed here to bounce back into the winners list. She ran over 1200m on the course proper on Boxing Day where she sat back in the ruck and closed off her race with real purpose when third to Beautiful Flyer, who ran well in Stakes company the start prior, so I will respect that form and she does have a tidy record on the Parks track.
Big Danger: 1 Beautiful Flyer (Bet Now: $1.80) was far from disgraced in the Marion behind Casino Wizard before bolting up in a similar race to this a fortnight back on the course proper when ridden confidently by Eran Boyd and won quite impressively. Meets a similar field here, and should press forward from the gate. Hard to beat.
Long Shot: 3 Not So Lady Like (Bet Now: $18.00) is a talented staying mare that resumes for the Richard Jolly yard. She put together three sharp wins during the Winter, the last of those being a win over 2250m here against some handy types. Looked to trial up okay at Gawler last week and though her best distance is further, she can certainly sprint well fresh.

Race Four (16:33) : UBET Handicap (90) 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Alabama Missile (Bet Now: $2.90) resumed over the short course at Murray Bridge on New Years Day where she faced just two rivals and won with complete ease, controlling the race outside the speed and drew clear late when asked by Poon. Bit more depth here, but she does run well second up, as well as on the Parks track. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: 2 Heart of A Lion (Bet Now: $7.50) ran second to Alabama Missile when resuming at Murray Bridge where he had to lump the 59.5kg and just couldn’t sprint with them but once balanced up he did attack the line strongly late nearer the inside. Can race handy second up, but his stats on the Parks track are quite imposing here.
Long Shot: 6 Spatha (Bet Now: $61.00) is such an interesting runner here. Former Victorian/NSW galloper that is now under the care of Michael Wayman at Broken Hill. Hasn’t raced since New Years Eve 2015 when running last at Toowoomba. I thought he trialled well a tick under four weeks back at Narromine behind a couple of proven city performers. Definite market watch.

Race Five (17:13) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap (75) 1250m:

Back Me: 2 Wasabi Bob (Bet Now: $4.80) fought on strongly to win over 1300m here fresh before coming back to 1250m here last Saturday where he sat on speed and gave a really good kick in the straight but was no match for the turn of foot shown by Chapel City. Seven day turnaround is no issue for mine and I like the fact he is immediately back up in trip. A major contender.
Big Danger: 7 Peninsula Links (Bet Now: $5.50) ran over 1200m on the course proper on Boxing Day where she sat just off the speed in the run and to her credit she chased hard and kicked for a period in the straight but she had no answers late for Swipe Me Right. 1400m is a little query, but I think on her last start effort, she will get it- just.
Long Shot: 10 Super Crunch (Bet Now: $13.00) ran over 1500m at Gawler (Metro) three weeks ago where I thought she was pretty good in defeat. She sat back in a slowly run race won and dominated by the leader Northern Lass, but Super Crunch certainly didn’t turn it up. Back to 1400m will be ideal and stable is having an okay little run at the moment.

Race Six (17:50) : Quayclean Handicap (64) 1400m:

Back Me: 7 Have Another Glass (Bet Now: $4.60) is a really talented mare for the Sue Jaensch stable who looks ready to produce a bottler in town. She ran over 1400m on her home track on January 2 where she got back in the run but once Finnegan gave the mare clear air out wide, gee she finished off her race powerfully and won quite comfortably on the peg. Keen on her here.
Big Danger: 4 Simpatico (Bet Now: $17.00) has been up for a long time but gee he is racing well. He ran over 1400m at Murray Bridge on New Years Day where he sat around midfield in the run and worked home well late in the piece when third to Babitzin. He was just known as a Murray Bridge specialist only, but recently he has been performing well away from there. Definite contender.
Long Shot: 10 Iceflow (Bet Now: $41.00) has had two runs this time in new trainer John Croucher. Disappointing first up effort behind Mr Liberty before triallng well behind subsequent winner Tenere and then racing at Murray Bridge where he got back and hit the line okay late behind The Castle Kat. You only have to go back to earlier form to see how talented he has been, and any sign of that would see him knocking this field off.

Race Seven (18:20) : Holdfast Insurance Handicap (82) 1550m:

Back Me: Despite the distance drop, I’m keen on 4 Mail It In (Bet Now: $3.60). He was a sharp winner over 1700m at Gawler before backing up seven days later over 2000m where he was given seemingly every chance by LIndop but the horse just couldn’t quite reel in Bullitt County. Back to 1550m looks ideal and his record at Parks is something to admire.

Big Danger: 6 Finke (Bet Now: $4.00) is a former NT star who was huge in defeat fresh here behind Penny For A Pound before going to the Xmas Handicap on the course proper where he did too much work on speed and faded late behind Casino Wizard. Third up now, so he should be just about cherry ripe fitness wise and is getting out to a more ideal distance.
Long Shot: 3 It And A Bit (Bet Now: $7.00) is knocking on the door to win a race and I think he gets a great chance here. He ran over the mile on the course proper a fortnight back where it was somewhat embarrassing to watch for the beaten riders given they just handed the race to Flow Meter on a platter and he rightfully took it. This horse does tend to race better on the Parks track and with a more genuine tempo here, he will be more effective.

Race Eight (18:55) : MAC: STOP DRUG DRIVING Handicap (70) 1250m:

Back Me: 5 Call Me Curtis (Bet Now: $5.00) is becoming a very costly conveyance but I am quite keen on his prospects here. He ran over 1100m on the course proper where he was ridden quite poorly I thought given he had barrier five and was caught three/four wide no cover on speed for the trip but to his credit he was only beaten just over two lengths. Just needs normal luck to beat these I think.
Big Danger: 7 Murti (Bet Now: $3.20) resumed over 1200m on the course proper a fortnight ago where he was quite game in defeat given he did work early on in the run and fought on strongly to run fourth to in form galloper Strategic Diamond. Boggoms was the runner up and he bolted up last Saturday to frank the form. Murti can be hit and miss at times, but on his day, he is above average.
Long Shot: 17 Dark Image (Bet Now: $21.00) is a handy galloper that resumes for the Minervini yard. He was pretty consistent during the Spring, highlighted by a narrow win on a bottomless Gawler surface. Looked okay in a recent trial on that track, he sprints well fresh and Neilson remains on, so perhaps a lead there.
