The Masters is just around the corner and the final lead up program comes around this Saturday at Ascot with Peters Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (15:49) : Evolution AV Plate 1100m:

Back Me: 2 Colourful Charade (Bet Now: $8.00) is an Oratorio gelding that debuts here off the back of two trials, the latest resulting in a trial win here on Monday here when winning nicely and running decent time. Looks a likely type and I think he can measure up.
Big Danger: 7 Soundcheck (Bet Now: $2.80) is another that debuts, this one a Your Song type for Trevor Andrews. He looked to trial well at Lark Hill a couple of weeks back, winning the trial by two lengths with Pike steering. Looks average and one of the hardest to beat.
Long Shot: 3 Keeper Keen (Bet Now: $12.00) is a Sebring that debuts for the Daniel Pearce yard. He has been tuned up for his debut with two trials, the latest coming on October 24 when winning a trial at Lark Hill, narrowly but impressively. He can measure up for sure.

Race Two (16:24) : Tony Cook Handicap (72+) 1600m:

Back Me: 1 Star Exhibit (Bet Now: $3.20) looks ready to win now. Third up from a break for Team Williams who comes here after racing over this track/distance a fortnight back where he had the charmed run behind the tempo and chased hard down the entire straight when a narrow second to Scales Of Justice. Looks ready now and is the winner with normal luck.
Big Danger: 4 Universal Law (Bet Now: $4.40) ran over 1400m here three weeks back where he sat off speed and chased hard down the entire straight when third to Tradesman, and that horse has franked the form by running well in Stakes grade. He will also love the step up to the mile and rates highly.
Long Shot: 5 Reflectance (Bet Now: $12.00) is on the quick back up after racing in the York Cup on Sunday where he got back in the run and finishing off strongly in the piece when fourth to Django. He has run well in town before and the six day turnaround suggests that he has come through that run well.

Race Three (17:04) : Eskimo Joe Performing Next Saturday Handicap (72+) 1200m:

Back Me: Keen here on 3 State Solicitor (Bet Now: $1.70). He resumed over this track/distance a fortnight back where he stared prohibitive odds and he really gave his supporters not a moments worry with a comfortable win. Only has upside off that and just wins with normal luck.
Big Danger: 5 King River (Bet Now: $3.10) looks the clear danger to the stablemate. He sat back in the run here last time out and finished off strongly late to run a close up second. Third up now, so he should be ready fitness wise and is in the right stable. Ticks a lot of boxes.
Long Shot: 7 New Time (Bet Now: $26.00) drops back in trip after racing over 1400m here where he sat on speed and tired late behind Tradesman. Go back through his form and gee it reads so well, so I’m not saying he will definitely win, he will roll forward with no weight on his back and take some catching.

Race Four (17:45) : Network Ten Handicap (1MW) 1400m:

Back Me: 2 Astronomite (Bet Now: $2.05) is on the seven day turnaround after racing over 1200m here last Saturday where he just took too long to wind up but was good late behind Meteoroid. Up to 1400m is a big tick and he is getting close to peak fitness. The one to beat.
Big Danger: 3 Pinzu Bet Now: $4.40) resumed over 1200m at Bunbury a tick over a month back and closed off strongly late from off the speed when running a game second to Krakka Vision. That followed a sharp trial win at Lark Hill, so the indicators are there that he has returned in fab order, and the rise to 1400m is a big tick.
Long Shot: 9 Our Mate Al (Bet Now: $15.00) ran over this track/distance on Cup Day where he got a long way back in the run before presenting wider and finishing off very strongly late in the piece to score a narrow but impressive win. Has to improve a bit to win, but I think he is capable of that.

Race Five (18:20) : Breast Cancer Care WA Champion Fillies Stakes 1600m:

Back Me: 1 Caipirinha (Bet Now: $3.30) comes through the Burgess Queen on Cup Day over 1400m here where she attempted to lead all the way but just felt the pinch late when second to Ellicazoom. Up to the mile is some query, but she maps well and will take some beating.
Big Danger: 4 Ellicazoom (Bet Now: $2.40) won that race mentioned above and she was given a beaut steer, sitting off the speed and presenting at the right time to score a very strong win. Up to the mile is no issue for her, she has upside and looks to have a touch of class.
Long Shot: 8 Nice Go (Bet Now: $81.00) ran over this track/distance at the midweeks on October 26 where she sat back in the run and closed off pretty well late in the piece without threatening when third to Humanity, beaten 1.5L. Rises sharply in grade and depth, but she has the run at the mile under the belt, which is a tick.

Race Six (19:00) : R.J. Peters Stakes 1500m:

Back Me: 10 Scales Of Justice (Bet Now: $2.25) had his first go at the mile a fortnight back where he was heavily backed in betting and that support proved correct, but only just. He led all the way and I don’t think leading is his caper. If he has a bunny to chase, he will be more effective. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: 4 Neverland (Bet Now: $11.00) is a class mare that comes through the Asian Beau where she got back in the run and closed off well late in the piece when running sixth to stablemate Heart Starter. Third up now, so she should be ready fitness wise and she has class and quality.
Long Shot: 11 Showy Chloe (Bet Now: $7.00) was specked at a longer price in the Asian Beau and she was very good late in the piece when running fifth, beaten just over half a length. Looks well weighted from the Asian Beau runners racing here, and though drawn wide, I think she is a massive chance.

Race Seven (19:40) : Heineken Colonel Reeves Stakes 1100m:

Back Me: I think you have to give 6 Vega Magic (Bet Now: $2.90) another look here. Most of these come through the Prince Of Wales and most of them had no luck in the run, most notably Vega Magic. He was blocked for the entire straight and the run was totally inconclusive. The trial prior was outstanding so I’m giving him a chance.
Big Danger: 1 Rock Magic (Bet Now: $9.00) dodged all the carnage in the Prince Of Wales, building up momentum out wide and finishing off with real purpose to score, visually, an impressive victory. I think if he wins again, he will need things to go his way again…but perhaps they could?
Long Shot: Another horse that was very unlucky in the race was 2 First Among Equals (Bet Now: $6.50). He looked to be going sweetie behind the tempo but he just couldn’t get a crack at them in the straight and went to the post under a hold. Form prior was very good and stable is in form.

Race Eight (20:20) : Evoke Media Ascot Gold Cup 1800m:

Back Me: 3 Chocolate Holic (Bet Now: $2.15) is a star and just has to go on top. His win in the Northam Cup last time out was outstanding, settling near last in the run before rounding them up like a coming Group l winner, which could well be the Kingston Town. Weight rise is the worry, but he just looks far too good for these. His turn of foot is brilliant and he has shown that before with a decent weight on his back.
Big Danger: 11 Kia Ora Koutou (Bet Now: $7.00) resumed over the mile here a fortnight back and he was pretty much off the beat for the entire trip but stuck on pretty well I thought behind the above average galloper Scales Of Justice. He will improve with the run under the belt and up in trip will only suit.
Long Shot: 13 Tonto (Bet Now: $11.00) comes through the Northam Cup where he got back to near last in the run and worked home okay late in the piece behind the rising star Chocolate Holic. He will appreciate the rise in trip and with a likely genuine tempo, he will be strong late. Knockout hope.
