Nine races will be run and won this Saturday at Morphettville Parks, but keep mind that the first event will be on the course proper. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; True for the remainder.

Race One (12:58) : Quayclean Handicap 1100m:

Back Me: 4 Weapon (Best Odds: $2.05) has to go on top now due to the weight of money on his back. Busuttin/Young first starter that comes here off the back of two very impressive jump out wins at Cranbourne. Amazed he opened $9. Even money is getting a bit silly, but he has has looked good enough to suggest he can win on debut here.
Back Me: 1 Mulk (Best Odds: $2.80) is a handy youngster for the Hayes/Dabernig team who raced twice here during the Spring where he ran third on both occasions, the debut being behind Time Awaits, who has gone right on with it since. Jump outs have been very good and he strikes a very thin event here.
Long Shot: 8 Annifrid (Best Odds: $10.00) resumes here for the Jolly camp after just one run in the Spring where she ran down the track behind Spiritual Girl. Looked a real baby there but has looked to filled out based on a trial win at Strathalbyn. Interested to see what the market does with her.

Race Two (13:33) : Mo Barry 85th Birthday Maiden Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 6 Trogir (Best Odds: $3.50) just looks to pick himself here. Well bred gelding that resumes for the Stokes yard. Debuted on the course proper during the Spring where he got back in the run and closed off strongly to run second to Enki. Been given a decent break and looked to trial well to my eye recently. Keen.
Big Danger: 4 Mile High (Best Odds: $3.30) is a handy looking type that is first up here for the Macmillan camp. Kicked off his career during the Spring/Summer with a couple of runs, both in town and on each occasion he was far from disgraced. Looked to trial well at Strathalbyn a couple of weeks back and the form from those two races has been good.
Long Shot: 8 Quivers (Best Odds: $13.00) started bolters odds when resuming here a tick over three weeks back but despite her lofty price, she ran a beauty I thought when a second to First Channel. Form out of that has been franked, and this mare, she now gets a senior rider and draws to get a sit. Big threat.

Race Three (14:13) : Projection Graphics Maiden Plate 1300m:

Back Me: 9 Wanted By All (Best Odds: $3.70) looks the one to beat here. Talented galloper for Chris Bieg that is one of the better maidens racing in SA at the moment but it won’t be long until he breaks through. Ran in a 3YO Handicap over 1250m here a fortnight back where he sat last in a slowly run race and worked home well behind the handy Weir galloper Another Coldie. Significant drop in depth here and I’m confident he can get the job done here.
Big Danger: 6 Pujols (Best Odds: $9.00) is a well named horse, and he is near a win himself. Ran in a 1400m maiden at Murray Bridge last Wednesday where he got back to near last in the run yet finished off his race with real purpose to run a close up second to the city performed Touch. Bit of depth to this maiden, but he is a likely type.
Long Shot: 7 Silent Warrior (Best Odds: $11.00) is a former Team Snowden galloper that has had two runs in SA for the Stuart Gower camp. The second of those came in the Another Coldie race a fortnight back where he got back in the run and just couldn’t come on in a slowly run affair. Back to maiden grade suits, and on his NSW form, he’d give this a serious shake.

Race Four (14:48) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap (75) 2400m:

Back Me: 3 Royal Request (Best Odds: $3.40) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1800m on the course proper last Saturday where he got a mile back in the run but trucked up well with cover coming to the turn. Peeled wide and finished off well I thought behind Stone Warrior. Up to 2400m is ideal and this race doesn’t carry much depth.
Big Danger: 5 Gifted Las (Best Odds: $2.20) is a former kiwi for the Busuttin/Young camp that made his Australian debut at Sale over 2200m where he got a long way back and though he didn’t really show a turn of foot, he came home strongly with real momentum to win. Even money is rock bottom odds for this galloper, but in saying that, this race doesn’t carry much depth.
Long Shot: 12 Discern (Best Odds: $41.00) rises in depth but should be respected off the back of a brilliant win at Murray Bridge last Wednesday where he got a long way back in the run yet came with a withering finishing burst to nab them right on the peg. He will run the trip out no problem and looks a knockout chance.

Race Five (15:23) : UBET Adelaide Cup March 13 Handicap (82) 1950m:

Back Me: 2 Flow Meter (Best Odds: $3.80) is on the seven day turnaround after racing over the mile on the course proper last Saturday where he had a charmed run behind the tempo and battled away strongly when fourth to It And A Bit. He was 2000 back to 1600 there, so back up to 1950 is ideal and he should take some beating.
Big Danger: 3 Zerprise Journey (Best Odds: $2.10) comes through the Rising Hope race at Morphettville three weeks ago where I thought she was disappointing behind Rising Hope given she had the charmed run off the pace, but she couldn’t come on. Maybe the weight got to her? Not sure, but I am prepared to give her another look here.
Long Shot: I think there is value here in the shape of 4 Duquessa (Best Odds: $18.00). Two runs back for the Dodson camp, the latest coming over the mile on the course proper three weeks back where she got back in the run and just stayed there really behind Rising Hope. Getting out to a more ideal trip now and gets really good weight relief. Can see her running a cheeky race at odds.

Race Six (16:03) : Schweppes Handicap (70) 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Lockdown Jack (Best Odds: $5.50) had been running really well in town without a great deal of luck before appreciating the drop in depth last time out on Naracoorte Cup Day when sitting off a hot speed and pouncing under Holder to win quite impressively. His confidence should be up now he has that win on the board, and this race doesn’t appear overly strong.
Big Danger: 8 Trueno (Best Odds: $7.50) comes back to 1000m after racing over 1100m on the course proper three weeks back where he was back and wide, but with cover. Peeled out and launched and looked the winner but was bloused nearer the inside by Sandrelli. That form should up well here despite that mare getting beat last week.
Long Shot: 4 Liberty Hill (Best Odds: $34.00) rises in depth but could be one to include in multiples. She ran over 1210m on Port Lincoln Cup Day last Friday where she sat off a genuine tempo and worked home okay but was never a winning threat behind Killawarra. Not the greatest of records in town, but this race is nowhere near as strong as what she has faced in the city previously.

Race Seven (16:45) : Holdfast Insurance Handicap (64) 1550m:

Back Me: 10 Table Of Wisdom (Best Odds: $4.20) is a really progressive gelding for the Tony McEvoy yard who is showing good promise. Debuted over 1400m here a couple of Wednesdays back where he sat off the pace and when Thornton gave him clear air, he showed a lovely turn of foot and won with ease. He’ll eat up the extra furlong here and rates highly.
Big Danger: 9 Soju Warrior (Best Odds: $3.90) won quite impressively first up at Kilmore in what looked an okay maiden before going to Ballarat where he was a drifter in betting and didn’t show the dash like he did fresh when third to Benny Dee. Got some good form behind him, and third up, he should be ready fitness wise.
Long Shot: 5 Bold Zac (Best Odds: $12.00) is a risk at the trip, but from the gate can be included. Had three wide cover last Wednesday at Murray Bridge and seemingly had his chance when third to Presidium, but he battled away strongly. Should do no work from the gate and is a definite must for exotics.

Race Eight (17:28) : Adelaide GalvanisingHandicap (75) 1400m:

Back me: 9 Peninsula Links (Best Odds: $4.80) is a three year old filly taking on the older horses but I think she is a serious winning chance here. She comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile on the course proper three weeks back where she led most of the way under Matty Neilson and was dominant on the line. Good record on the Parks track and maps well here.
Big Danger: 11 Eclair Attack (Best Odds: $3.60) has had two runs back from a spell and should just about be ready to show his best here. He ran over 1250m here a fortnight back where he sat off the pace and chased hard all the way when second to the in form Baker’s Dozen. Looks ideally placed up to 1400m and he should be just about ready to peak.
Long Shot: 8 Beau’s My Boy (Best Odds: $21.00) isn’t one of my horses to trust, but I thought there were encouraging signs in his first up run over 1250m here a fortnight back when sitting well back in the run and finishing off okay late behind Moonee Valley winner This Kid Rocks. Does run well on the Parks, suited up to 1400m and draws to get a suck run behind the speed.

Race Nine (18:05) : James Boags Premium Handicap (64) 1300m:

Back Me: 7 Waging War (Best Odds: $13.00) is a talented gelding that resumes for the Macdonald/Gluyas team. Performed quite well in town during the Spring but did take his time to break the maiden status. Eventually did in the final run of the prep at Balaklava before being tipped out. No trials, but can sprint well fresh and finds a very winnable race here.
Big Danger: 14 Sweet Perfume (Best Odds: $8.00) had some very confident market support when breaking the maiden status last time out at Werribee. There was nothing flash about the win, but she toughed it out strongly and clung on to win. More depth here, but is down in the weights, has room to improve and draws a lovely gate for Jake Noonan.
Long Shot: 9 Wingard’s Mark (Best Odds: $12.00) was a good thing to my eye last Wednesday at Murray Bridge and he was given every chance in the run by Poon, but the horse just wanted to lay in badly and the star hoop couldn’t really ride it out fully, and in the end, he was grabbed by the rank outsider. Form prior was good and with better racing manners, he can take this.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 5 Lockdown Jack

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 6 Trogir

VALUE: Race Nine Number 7 Waging War
