A strong card of racing has been assembled for Morphettville on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres from the 1200m-400m; Out three metres for the remainder.

Race One (13:25) : Schweppes Plate 1050m:
Back Me: Time Out (Best Odds: $6.00) debuts here for Richard Jolly off the back of a nice trial on the course proper on Monday when second to Benz. Stable knows when to get them ready early on, and this gelding looked to go about his business quite nicely.
Big Danger: Smart Manoeuvre (Best Odds: $2.60) is on debut for Phillip Stokes. This daughter of Smart Missile hasn’t trialled, and the breeding is a bit suspect, but you just have to respect the stable, especially with their younger horses.
Roughie: Hey Doc (Best Odds: $6.50) is a Duporth colt on debut for Tony McEvoy. Hasn’t been seen at the trials publicly, but he has been kept safe in the market and the stable have had a good run with their youngsters so far this season.

Race Two (14:00) : UBET Adelaide Cup 14 March Handicap (90) 2018m:
Back Me: Gravitational (Best Odds: $2.90) ran over this track/distance last Saturday where he ran a plain third to in form galloper Robocop, but I think the big key for this horse is getting fitter, along with the fact that a senior rider going back aboard. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: River’s Lane (Best Odds: $5.00) resumed over the mile here and closed off very strongly when a two length fourth to Tenere. Trialled since and looked great in running a close up second. First up run was too good to dismiss.
Roughie: Majestic Moment (Best Odds: $2.50) resumed over 1400m on the Parks track and worked home strongly late to run fifth to Dr Dapper. 1400m to 2000m second up isn’t easy, but the stable is having a good run at the moment, he is a winner second up, as well as at the track and at the distance.

Race Three (14:35) : Seaton Hotel Maiden Plate 1100m:
Back Me: Really keen on Bow Noculars (Best Odds: $4.80), who is now with Richard Jolly after formerly being with Robert Smerdon. He made his debut over this track/distance three weeks back where he was given a very questionable steer, sitting four and five wide no cover for the entire trip yet still kept on and was only beaten a length. Normal luck here and he wins.
Big Danger: Nippy Lippy (Best Odds: $13.00) resumed over 900m at Murray Bridge and ran on hard late to run third to Rig Rat, beaten 1.5L. Should take good improvement from that, draws well and Tourneur sticks, so she can definitely challenge this lot.
Roughie: Wish List (Best Odds: $18.00) is a Reward For Effort filly on debut for John Hickmott who has only had one trial, back in August on a heavy track. Was tipped out soon after, and comes here with no trials, so watch market moves.

Race Four (15:17) : Projection Graphics Handicap (64) 1800m:
Back Me: It’s Fred (Best Odds: $1.70) opened $1.80, and really, I’d be happy to take $1.10, because he should just win again. Bolted up over 2000m here a couple of weeks back, and seemingly the drop back to 1800m seems perfect. Has to overcome the wide gate, but despite that, he should be far too good for this bunch.
Big Danger: St Gabriel (Best Odds: $4.60) is on the back up from last Saturday where he made up ground late behind impressive winner Lotion. Steps up to 1800m, which should suit, and Cartwright sticks. Doubt he can win, but definitely first three.
Roughie: Forget that Solid Bullet (Best Odds: $6.00) went around here a fortnight back given he got badly held up near the inside when appearing as though he was going to be a serious threat. Up to 1800m is a query, but he will get a cheap run from the gate and can find a place.

Race Five (15:57) : Campolina Stud Handicap (70) 1515m:
Back Me: Keen here on the Tony McEvoy trained Powderworks (Best Odds: $5.50). He has won both starts this time in, the latest coming at Murray Bridge against the older horses where he let down strongly from off the speed to win quite handsomely. Back to his own age now and third up, he should be at peak fitness.
Big Danger: Alaskan Jade (Best Odds: $3.60) was an impressive winner here first up before running over 1200m here last Saturday where she made up ground in the straight to run fourth to Heartz Ablaze. Gives the impression she will appreciate the rise in trip, draws a good gate and Maund remains on.
Roughie: Green Hornet (Best Odds: $9.00) was given a gun front running steer from apprentice Caitlin Jones last start at Balaklava, and the ride clearly won the race for the horse. He has run well in town before, and if he can lead here with a cheap sectional, he’ll take some stopping.

Race Six (16:37) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap (82) 1200m:
Back Me: Cool Maverick (Best Odds: $5.00) ran over 1300m on the Parks track a fortnight back where he was given a plum ride from apprentice Dylan Caboche, and the horse looked home, but he was nabbed right on the peg by Pepper The Pin. Up to 1400m is ideal, Caboche stays on, and the horse is in super form.
Big Danger: Enduro (Best Odds: $4.00) has been fantastic this time in, winning both runs, including a win over Stratumsphere, who has since won in town and will go around as a chance at Flemington on Friday. Since this horse has been kept to sprint races, he has been lethal, and he will be strong late here no doubt with some luck from the gate.
Roughie: Zayak (Best Odds: $34.00) resumes over this track/distance a month back where he stuck on alright when fifth to in form galloper Enduro. He has a pretty good record on the track, and despite poor second up stats, he draws well and could well sneak a place.

Race Seven (17:17) : Quayclean Handicap 1600m:
Back Me: Looks a good race for It And A Bit (Best Odds: $6.00). He comes through the Tenere race over this track/distance. He stuck to the task quite gamely when running third, beaten just under two lengths. Looks well placed here and should take some holding out.
Big Danger: Defiant Angel (Best Odds: $3.00) hasn’t raced in three weeks since finishing a close up fourth to Dr Dapper over 1400m on the Parks track, and he didn’t have much room, so he should have finished a touch closer. Gets nice weight relief here and should get every chance from the gate.
Roughie: Kushadasi (Best Odds: $7.00) resumed in the City Of Marion (1200m) and needed the run behind Lord Aspen. That was his first run in 12 months, so he probably might need this too, but he has a stack of class and is so well weighted after the claim.

Race Eight (17:50) : MAC Drink Driving? GROW Up Handicap (64) 1100m:
Back Me: Mister Rockstar (Best Odds: $11.00) is a very talented galloper for David Jolly who resumes here. His last start was in June over this track/distance when pulling up lame behind Bay Road. No trials leading in, but if he is fit enough and shows any sign of his best form, he’d spank this field.
Big Danger: Tangier Sun (Best Odds: $5.50) resumes here for Jon O’Conner. He is a sparingly raced five year old who hasn’t raced since July when finishing down the track behind Alysiana. He tends to save his best when produced fresh and he gets the services of Josh Cartwright.
Roughie: Tapestry Vision (Best Odds: $8.00) is a Robert Smerdon trained galloper who hasn’t raced in over three weeks since racing wide no cover at Moonee Valley when down the track behind Goodbye Toulouse. Draws much better here and this is a thin race on face value.
