Race One: Highview Accounting Handicap (64) 1300m:

Back Me: Looks a good race for the Darren Weir trained Kracken (Best Odds: $2.60).  He tried his guts out last time out at Bendigo but couldn’t quite hold off the finishing burst of stablemate Black Sheep. Rawiller jumps on, draws well, hard to beat.
Big Danger: Trench Fighter (Best Odds: $10.00) drops in class after contesting a strong three year old race on Moir Stakes night at the Valley behind Keen Array. He scored a strong on speed win two back at this track and Newitt, who rode the horse in winning, is back on.
Roughie: Dane Thunder (Best Odds: $7.50) was unwanted in betting when debuting at Ararat, but the son of Dane Shadow produced a lovely turn of foot from the back to win impressively. Time was very quick in comparison with other times that meeting, so don’t underestimate the win. He is a big winning chance here.

Race Two: Hertz Maiden Plate 1400m:

Back Me: Baheej (Best Odds: $3.50) was well supported on debut at Seymour but unfortunately for her supporters, she was trapped wide no cover on speed for the trip and that sealed her fate. Again draws wide, but if Walker can get her to get cover, then she looks the clear horse to beat.
Big Danger: Tuff Bickie (Best Odds: $6.00) is a first starter for local trainer Ken Keys who has trialled on several occasions in readiness for his debut, the latest coming on Monday at Cranbourne behind the above average Northoza. Draws outside Baheej, so wherever that horse goes, Dunn on Tuff Bickie will follow.
Roughie: Choppa (Best Odds: $21.00) is another first starter, with this one trained by Pat Carey. He trialled a couple of weeks back at Cranbourne and worked to the line alright late. He is a beautifully bred gelding that should be respected on debut.

Race Three: Patterson Cheney Isuzu Maiden Plate 1200m:

Back Me: Looks a really good race for the Darren Weir trained Petracca (Best Odds: $2.50). This maiden has raced at Stakes level in three of his four career runs, the latest coming on Anzac Day at Flemington behind My Popette. Was due to run at Kilmore on Tuesday, but that meeting was abandoned. Williams on, and on class, he should be winning.
Big Danger: The Contortionist (Best Odds: $26.00) is a Ken Keys first starter that trialled really well back in June behind Boart, who has placed in two runs since that trial. Drawn out but Dunn on is a good lead, so watch market moves with this son of Congrats.
Roughie: Zagaya (Best Odds: $26.00) sat wide no cover last time out at Sale yet stuck to the task pretty well I thought when running fifth to Hunamosa, beaten 2.4L. He is up in trip, which should suit, and this field doesn’t look strong outside the top tip.

Race Four: Botanic Homes Handicap (64) 1200m:

Back Me: Going to take a chance with Downing Street (Best Odds: $3.80). He debuted here back in July and bolted in, winning by four lengths and beating home Kalidaz, who has run well on several occasions since. Williams on for the family, and he should take some beating if he brings his debut form.
Big Danger: Super Fun (Best Odds: $3.80) is a consistent type that hasn’t won for a while, but is racing very well at the moment. He ran home well late last time out at the Valley behind Keep Not A Day, beaten just under half a length. Drops in weight from that run and now races at the provincials, not the city, so he looks a serious threat.
Roughie: Gallant Express (Best Odds: $41.00) worked home hard a couple of weeks back at Kyneton, coming from last to finish a close up fourth to Totolo, beaten 1.4L. He likes racing on his home track and should get every chance from the draw.

Race Five: Mypunter.com.au Handicap (64) 2025m:

Back Me: Savage Coup (Best Odds: $5.50) was given a peach steer from Chris Parnham to win impressively last time out at Ballarat over 2200m. He had been bursting to win a race for some time, and now that he has, he can go right on with it, and he looked well in a trial on Monday here.
Big Danger: Hell On Earth (Best Odds: $3.70) looked desperately unlucky two back at Benalla before going to Caulfield to race in the Inglis Cup and was far from disgraced when running sixth to Firehouse Rock. Big drop in class now, trained on the track and D Dunn rides.
Roughie: Clang And Dazzle (Best Odds: $10.00) ran seventh in that race Savage Coup won, and I thought he was admirable in defeat given he was three wide no cover for the entire trip. His run prior over this track/distance was very good, and with better luck here, he can threaten.

Race Six: Cranbourne Hyundai Handicap (70) 1600m:

Back Me: Global Assault (Best Odds: $10.00) scored a strong on speed win two back Bendigo before going to the Bairnsdale Cup last start and finishing off his race well late when second to Vizhaka. Drops a bit in class now, on his home track and is in ripping form.
Big Danger: Lucky Paddy (Best Odds: $1.65) worked home well first up say Seymour before going to Pakenham and just absolutely spanking his rivals with absolute ease. He has upside left and should take a power of beating.
Roughie: Sammy The Snake (Best Odds: $21.00) worked very hard first up at Sale, sitting wide no cover throughout yet he stuck to the task pretty gamely to finish fifth. Bit more depth here, but the jump outs prior to Sale were strong and the first yo run was encouraging.

Race Seven: Procon Developments Apache Cat Classic 1000m:

Back Me: Your weekend anchor is Super One (Best Odds: $1.60). He is a star from Singapore who is unbeaten in four runs there, the latest coming in July when smashing them in the Juvenile Championship. Haven’t found any trials for him in Australia, but he did trial at Singapore on August 25 and looked all class in winning that. If he turns up here fit and healthy, he will win with ease.
Big Danger: Hard Stride (Best Odds: $12.00) was quite disappointing first up at Caulfield when sitting on speed and fading out of it late behind Group l performer Sabatini. He can run a shocker fresh and then quickly bounce back second up, and the blinkers do come off, so watch market moves. But I think he and the others are racing for minor money.
Roughie: Tudor (Best Odds: $9.00) hasn’t raced since the Goodwood where he did a mountain of work on speed for the trip and yet was only three lengths off Flamberge in eighth spot. Recent trials here have been sharp, and Craig Williams, who rode the horse in the trials, sticks.

Race Eight: TAB Cranbourne Cup 2025m:

Back Me: Looks a lovely race for Big Memory (Best Odds: $6.50). There was plenty to like about his effort first up at Moonee Valley in the Dato Tan behind The Cleaner. He has been given a good freshen up and this looks just his race if he brings his best form.
Big Danger: Extra Zero (Best Odds: $3.50) drops in grade after running an absolute ripper in the Turnbull last Sunday, where he wasn’t beaten far at all by Preferment. This is his level and will take a power of beating.
Roughie: Index Linked (Best Odds: $5.50) resumed in the Bill Ritchie at Randwick and finished his race off quite nicely behind stablemate Sadler’s Lake. Second up to 2000m is a slight concern, but it’s hard to doubt Chris Waller.

Race Nine: DeBortoli Wines Handicap (70) 1400m:

Back Me: Calusa (Best Odds: $7.00) resumed at Pakenham and made up solid ground from the back to run a close up fourth to Mefnooda. Plenty to like about that effort, should improve off that and looks one of the hardest to beat.
Big Danger: Fair And Equitable (Best Odds: $11.00) resumed in a pretty handy race at Sale and worked home well out wide late behind old stalwart Thumbtacks. Should improve off that and is trained on the track, which is a definite advantage.
Roughie: Winta Chiller (Best Odds: $10.00) resumed at Pakenham a couple of weeks back and worked home strongly over the concluding stages behind Roll The Ignition. She is a proven city winner and performer, and that’s why she has the weight, but she has the clear class edge.

Race Ten: Condo’s Horse Transport Handicap (78) 1400m:

Back Me: Punters should end the afternoon on the right note thanks to Azkadellia (Best Odds: $2.40). She blitzed them first up at Ballarat before going to Pakenham where I thought she was a good thing, but in the end, she had her chance when second. She was nominated for the Mares race at Caulfield, so the stable does rate her highly. Should beat these with luck from the wide gate.
Big Danger: Pharrell (Best Odds: $7.00) took an absolute eternity to win a race on Australian soil, but he has now won two on the bounce, and on both occasions he has been quite impressive. Third emergency here, but if he gets a run, he is in this race right up to his ears.
Roughie: Waxing (Best Odds: $15.00) is the query runner. Former Lloyd Williams import who is now with Darren Weir. He ran twice during the Autumn in a couple of quality races and was far from disgraced. On his best form, he’d go very close to beating these. Watch market moves.
