1/10/2016 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

The Parks track at Morphettville will continue with SA racing this Saturday and eight event meeting. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out eight metres from the 1000m-400m; Out six metres from the 400m-Winning Post; Out five metres for the remainder.

Race One (12:47) : Akeed Mofeed @ Goldin Farms Plate 1000m:

Back Me: Race should be dominated by Tony McEvoy and I think the pick of his runners is 7 Time Awaits, (Bet Now: $1.75) a daughter of Nicconi who bolted up last Monday Balaklava, winning a trial by six lengths and doing it comfortably to the eye. He is the pick of the triallers and with normal luck, I think she wins.
Big Danger: 5 Love Poet (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Richard Jolly trained filly who comes here off the back of running second to Time Awaits in the Balaklava trial last week, and though beaten six lengths, I thought she went about her business nicely. Might pay to watch the market.
Roughie: 2 Paseeto (Bet Now: $9.00) is a colt trained by Tony McEvoy. This son of Nicconi ran third in the Balaklava trial behind stablemate Time Awaits, beaten nine lengths. Not sure he can improve nine lengths to win, but he looked okay and should run well.

Race Two (13:22) : Adelaide Galvanising Industries Handicap (64) 1000m:

Back Me: 2 Sawaiki (Bet Now: $4.60) was a bloke I was very keen on to perform in Melbourne during the Autumn but the stable elected to stay home, where he was a bit disappointing I thought. He is regally bred, so the decision to geld him does interest me. Trials have been pretty good, not as brilliant as the ones prior to the first prep, but on ability, he probably has these covered. Just want to see a market push.
Big Danger: 1 Mr Markou (Bet Now: $3.30) is a handy gelding that resumes for Tony McEvoy. He contested some really good races during the Adelaide Carnival and was far from disgraced before going to Flemington on Anzac Day and running midfield behind Trenchant. Trials have been sharp and he has the class factor.
Roughie: The race falls away a bit. If there is a knockout chance, it could be 4 Posh Journey (Bet Now: $4.50). Ran in some pretty handy races during the Carnival here behind quality gallopers. Trial win was sharp and stable is in form.

Race Three (13:57) : Adelaide Image Printing Handicap (82) 2400m:

Back Me: I think 1 Flying Casino (Bet Now: $3.60) can turn the tables on Honey Steels Gold. They clashed over 2500m on the course proper three weeks back where Honey Steels Gold was hard fit and got the win but I thought Flying Casino was very good in defeat. He has found form now, and when he does that, he generally holds it. Happy to be on him here.
Big Danger: 4 Azurite (Bet Now: $3.40) is on the back up after racing last Friday night at the Valley over 2500m where he attempted to lead all the way and plodded away for fifth to the handy Weir stayer Firezne. Maps pretty well here and can bounce back if he finds his best.
Roughie: 5 Honey Steels Gold (Bet Now: $3.40) was coming off a jumps prep before racing in that event mentioned above where he was ridden a treat by Neilson and the gun hoop lifted him late when challenged by Flying Casino. Two from two on the Parks track and the drop back to 2400m will suit him more. Surprised he is not top pick in betting.

Race Four (14:32) : Gerry Saint Memorial Maiden Plate 1300m:

Back Me: 8 Beautiful Voice (Bet Now: $13.00) debuted on Balaklava Cup Day and she worked home with purpose late to run third to Northern Lass, who has won since, and Pretty Punk, who won next start. Form reads very well and she should take beating.
Big Danger: 5 Waging War (Bet Now: $4.40) resumes here for the MacDonald/Gluyas yard. Had two runs during the Winter and ran fourth both times. Comes here with no trials behind him, but is talented and should take beating.
Roughie: 4 Tsavorite (Bet Now: $5.50) debuted over 1000m here at the midweeks where he showed really good speed to lead and gave a tremendous kick but just couldn’t quite finish it off. That should see him toughened up and prove hard to hold out.

Race Five (15:10) : Lyn Grantham Handicap (82) 1550m:

Back Me: 10 Kesan (Bet Now: $7.00) ran four straight 5th placings, so it really was D-Day for him in a week race here last time out and he rightfully bolted in, aided by a confident ride from Poon, knowing he was on the best horse in the race and rode accordingly. That would have done the confidence of the horse the world of good, and he has the potential to go right on with it.
Big Danger: 8 Zipnotized (Bet Now: $5.50) ran over the mile on the course proper three weeks ago and was given a peach of a steer from apprentice Eran Boyd to bolt in and beat home a couple of handy types in Dreadlock and Mandana. Has a really good record on the Parks track, especially at the track/distance.
Roughie: 1 Have Plenty (Bet Now: $34.00) resumed over 1400m here four weeks back and just looked in need of the run when second last to the in form galloper Sandhill Warrior. Not a flash second up record, but he is a three time winner here and the rise to 1550m should suit. One for exotics.

Race Six (15:50) : Kerri Turnbull Handicap (90) 1000m:

Back Me: 9 Usain Dane (Bet Now: $4.60) has been given a freshen up since running fourth over 1300m here behind Giddyup. I think we now know he is just a pure sprinter, so the freshen up and back to 1000m is ideal, carries only 52kg…I can see the punters launching into him.
Big Danger: 8 Classy Jack (Bet Now: $9.00) drops in grade after coming through the Whylie where he sat on speed and kicked on well for a while but just weakened out of it late to run sixth to Illustrious Lad. Saves his best for the Parks track, he’ll be on speed and giving plenty.
Roughie: 5 Dr Dapper (Bet Now: $41.00) was first up since December when racing on the course proper three weeks back where he sat on speed and fought on okay to be beaten only three lengths by an in form galloper in Heza Ripper. He has a really good second up, not as much depth here I suspect and saves his best for the Parks track.

Race Seven (16:30) : UBET Handicap (70) 1250m:

Back Me: 1 Double Pockets (Bet Now: $16.00) is on the back up after racing here last Saturday where he was very good in defeat behind Metro Cowboy given he was three wide no cover on speed yet still kicked on pretty gamely to be beaten 1.8L. Loves racing on this track and the seven day turnaround is a positive to my eye, the fact that he has come through the hard run well enough to back up here.
Big Danger: 5 Alitaka (Bet Now: $7.50) resumes for the Steve Theodore yard after a really good prep last time in where he won a couple of races, including here, in impressive fashion. Comes here with no trials behind him, but he has the talent and can sprint well fresh.
Roughie: 6 Trueno (Bet Now: $12.00) ran over 1200m on the course proper a fortnight ago and wasn’t beaten far in what looked a handy race behind the in form Victorian Artie Fred, beaten two lengths. This is a very winnable race for him if he puts it all together.

Race Eight (17:12) : MAC Drink Driving? GROW UP Handicap (75) 1250m:

Back Me: 1 Mossbeat (Bet Now: $3.00) had her first run for the Hayes/Dabernig yard over 1200m on the course proper two weeks ago where she bolted up and looked as if she was going to go right on with it, but her fitness just gave out late when third to Artie Fred. Back to her own sex now and given her record in Victoria, she is very well weighted.
Big Danger: 5 Snake Charmer (Bet Now: $4.80) was given a poor ride when resuming before backing up seven days later and probably the gutbusting fresh run took the toll on her behind Pepper The Pin. She’s been given a four week let up since and though drawn awkwardly, she’ll be hard to beat on her best form.
Roughie: 12 Trimensa (Bet Now: $51.00) resumed at Gawler on September 7 and worked home well with purpose late to run third to Crystal Moment, beaten just under two lengths. Form out of the race is mixed, but she’s carrying no weight, drawn to be out of trouble and she had solid form around her last prep.
