The Kensington track at Randwick is where Sydney racing takes place this Monday. The weather is overcast, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:05) Casino Prince @ Vinery Handicap 1400m
1 Time Of Glory (Bet Now: $3.80) on top for me. David Payne trains this gelding, who was unwanted in betting when debuting at Kembla Grange but he came with a well timed run out wide to just miss out on picking up Barnabas. Looked pretty good there and much better than what the betting said. Think he’ll go close to beating these.
3 Foreign Territory (Bet Now: $2.80) was a heavily backed odds on pop when debuting at Gosford but just copped too much pressure in front and felt the pinch late when a close up fourth to Versetto. Small field here so I suspect that Hippo will look to go to the front and dominate proceedings from the front end.
6 The Bold Eagle (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Team Hawkes trained gelding who is a few weeks between runs since racing at Sandown where he was wide no cover throughout and eventually finished down the track behind Duality, who has since run well behind Fifty Stars. It’s different form, but good enough to be competitive here.
Race 2. (12:40) Book Spring Hospitality Handicap 1400m
Tricky race but siding with 1 Wide Spread Panic (Bet Now: $2.50). Backed as if unbeatable when resuming at Gosford but if you took the shorts, you were never comfortable in the run and though well beaten when second to Tryst, the run was solid enough. Blinkers back on again and Macca takes over, so he ticks the boxes.
3 Scratches (Bet Now: $3.50) is a well bred daughter of Street Cry resuming for the Chris Waller team. This girl had a three run Autumn prep where she ran okay without shooting the lights out. Been given a good break and has really caught the eye in a couple of trials. Gets Blinkers First Time and that tells me there is intent to run well first up.
Not sure she can win, but 5 Kiria (Bet Now: $12.00) is definitely one to include in exotics. This girl has had two career runs at Kembla Grange over 1500m and 1600m respectively. The latest run was good. Mitch Bell elected to cut the corner and save ground and on the day, the inside part was quicksand. Interesting she comes back to 1400m but looks handy.
Race 3. (13:15) TAB Handicap 1550m
Not sure here but I’ve landed with 9 Miss Earth (Bet Now: $5.50) for Kris Lees. She comes through a Wyong maiden won by Whiteley where she got back and chased pretty well. That horse franked the form by placing behind subsequent Group l winner The Autumn Sun. On breeding, the wet track should be no issue.
4 Dealmaker (Bet Now: $3.40) comes through the Temeyez race mentioned above. He had the suck run behind the speed and probably had every chance to win, but was a bit one paced to the line. I think getting the blinkers on first time will really sharpen him up, he has more upside and again looks to get a lovely run off the tempo.
3 Picaro (Bet Now: $6.00) is a son of Pierro for Gary Portelli who has finished runner up in both runs this time in. Looked home over 1500m last time out at Kembla Grange but Exclusive just had the better ground and proved too good. Think he either leads or gets the sit behind Tactical Formation. Either way, he’s a threat.
Race 4. (13:50) Unconquered Sprint 1100m
I’ll take a chance on 12 Royal Witness (Bet Now: $4.20). Returns as a gelding for John Sargent after a two run Autumn. Was touted as a potential Slipper contender but failed to flatter in two race starts. Been gelded, a couple of changes with the gear and he has trialled up really well for the return. $7 or thereabouts is acceptable.
1 Canyonero (Bet Now: $2.40) is a Mark Newnham trained colt who is just over three weeks between runs since resuming at Rosehill where he sat on speed and fought on well in defeat when third to Ronstar, who franked the form with a win last Saturday. Blinkers first time to sharpen him up, draws well and has hard race experience.
4 It’s Too Hard (Bet Now: $15.00) is a son of All Too Hard on debut for the Lee camp. Bred in the purple being out of Polar Success, a classy filly when she was at her best. This horse has looked good in three trials leading up to this and I don’t think the wet track will be an issue, plus he gets blinkers for the first time.
Race 5. (14:25) Half Yearly Membership Handicap (75) 1550m
Hoping the pattern continues for the John Thompson trained 2 Reneged (Bet Now: $6.50). He is a two time third up winner and he reaches that point of the prep here. Comes through the Fierce Impact race on the course proper just over two weeks ago and while he never threatened, I thought he stuck on quite well in defeat. 1550m looks ideal, Angland back on, drops in depth…he gets his chance.
6 Revolver (Bet Now: $2.50) is just under three weeks between runs for Chris Waller since attempting to lead all the way over the 1550m at Canterbury where he ran along at a decent clip, which set it up perfectly for stablemate Gresham to pounce, which he did. That horse bolted up last Saturday, so the form reads well for this.
4 Segenhoe (Bet Now: $10.00) is a talented stayer that resumes for Clare Cunningham. This horse hasn’t raced in just over a year, so has clearly had issues but he has showed that he can measure up in town. Three trials to prepare for his return, the first in late March before being given a let up and has had two recent trials. I’d keep an eye on the market and see what it does.
Race 6. (15:00) Queen's Birthday Handicap (70) 1400m
5 Medovina (Bet Now: $1.40) on top for me. This girl was a very impressive first up winner at Kembla Grange before going to Warwick Farm where she should have won but just got too far back via a negative ride when beaten a lip by It’s Time For Magic. She is a horse who needs riding, not cuddling, so if that happens here, I think she wins comfortably.
6 Dawn Raid (Bet Now: $6.50) is a John O’Shea trained gelding who is nearly a month between runs since resuming at Kembla Grange where he got well back off the speed and while he never looked a winning threat, his last 250m was pretty good behind Palladian. Goes much better second up and up to 1400m a big tick.
The good roughie here is clearly 3 High Mist (Bet Now: $7.50) for Chris Waller. If you were on him at the big odds first up at Canterbury, it was a hard luck tale. Never really clear at any stage when appearing to have good running behind Easy Eddie. He is a swimmer and should get a lovely run just off the pace.
Race 7. (15:40) Invictus Sprint (78) 1100m
Looks a race in two but just going the way of 7 Wander (Bet Now: $2.80). He does step up a fair bit in grade and depth, but the win last time out at Hawkesbury, time wise and visually, was outstanding. Smashed the clock and his change up speed was that of a city horse. Yes, beat a half fit stablemate, but he did it with ease, and the run prior at Wyong has turned out to be a red hot form race.
1 Easy Eddie (Bet Now: $4.40) looks the only serious threat. Ran over 1200m last Saturday at Rosehill where he copped a bit of heat on speed, which set it up perfectly for the horse in behind, Dawn Dawn, to pounce. Head gear change on the quick back up for this and he will be on speed. Back to 1100m also a tick.
2 Raiden (Bet Now: $9.00) can be a bit hit and miss at times but when he is on song, this Kris Lees galloper is certainly capable of figuring in the finish. Ran over 1100m during the Scone Carnival and got a mile back before cutting back to the inside and finishing off strongly when second to Akasaki. He’ll need luck but he’s certainly capable.
Race 8. (16:20) ATC Owners Benefit Card Sprint (78) 1100m
13 Right As Rain (Bet Now: $7.50) looks the knockout. Team Snowden train this mare, who resumed over 900m at Newcastle where she was a beaten horse halfway down the straight but battled away really well behind a good one in Rebel Cry. The record at 1100m isn’t great, but first run she was beaten by a Stakes horse in Rosa Carolina, second run had blood in the nostril and laceration to the head, then third 1100m run she had poor post race recovery. In the game for sure.
16 Empress Matilda (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Charge Forward filly resuming for Team Hawkes. This girl has been sparingly raced, with just three career outings. Hasn’t raced since November last year but her trials leading in have been quite good, and keep in mind being by Charge Forward, the wet track will be no issue.
17 Bella Success (Bet Now: $8.00) is a three year old filly trained by Chris Waller that is first up here. Love horses that end a prep on a winning note and she did that in October last year when beating up a pretty good field at the Sunny Coast. Just the one trial leading in to this, but it was in good time and given a decent hit out.
