Belmont is where WA metro racing takes place this Saturday with eight races set down. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:58) : Inglis Insurance Brokers Plate 1300m:

Back Me: 3 Art Series (Bet Now: $1.95) on top for me here in the opener. This filly has won all three outings this time in, the latest coming over this track/distance a fortnight back where she was parked up outside the speed before Pike flicked her reign and away she went for a dominant win. See no reason to jump off her.
Big Danger: 2 The Shoe (Bet Now: $5.00) is a talented youngster that resumes for the Stephen Miller yard. He was an impressive winner on debut at Ascot before being given a five week freshen up and racing in the Perth Magic Millions where he was far from disgraced behind Lucy Mae. Recent trial was very good and he does have class/quality.
Long Shot: 1 Little Hercules (Bet Now: $10.00) hasn’t raced for four weeks and has changed stables since his last start. He ran over 1200m at Ascot where he was desperately unlucky not to finish closer, settling near last in the run and getting badly held up before eventually getting clear and finishing off with purpose. Gate one so he should sit closer and take some beating.

Race Two (14:38) : The Gate Bar & Bistro Handicap (1MW) 1400m:

Back Me: 8 Blackline (Bet Now: $2.70) is becoming quite costly for punters but I will give her another look here. She resumed over 1200m last Saturday here where she led and was pretty weak at the finish when finishing fourth. An obvious query at running 1400m, but she is the leader and with a cheap sectional, she can bounce back hard.
Big Danger: 6 By Decree (Bet Now: $7.00) is bursting to win a race and she gets a great chance here. She hasn’t raced for three weeks since racing over the Ascot mile where she attempted to lead all the way and kicked quite nicely but was grabbed late. I think she’ll take a sit behind the top tip, and we know she will be strong late.
Long Shot: 11 Secret Doubt (Bet Now: $17.00) is a mare who is finding it hard to win but she draws a lovely gate so I think she is a must for exotics. Hasn’t raced for four weeks since racing over 1400m at Ascot where she had a charmed run behind the speed and tried hard when a gallant third to Elite Flight. Good record at Belmont and is a live chance.

Race Three (15:18) : Events At Ascot Handicap (78+) 1000m:

Back Me: 4 Dainty Tess (Bet Now: $3.30) is a ripping filly for the Dan Morton yard who is forced to take on the older horses due to her lofty rating. She was once known as a speed demon but her recent pattern has been to get back in the run and finish off, which she has done successfully. Gets really good weight relief after the claim and is the one to beat.
Big Danger: 5 Woolibar (Bet Now: $4.50) didn’t really have a right to win when racing at this track/distance two weeks ago given the pace in front didn’t appear to be strong but he came with a brilliant finishing burst out wide to get the job done. He has a fab record at Belmont and see no reason to jump off him.
Long Shot: 3 Agachar Cruz (Bet Now: $13.00) is the watch horse here. Talented sprinter that resumes for the Simon Foster yard who was very good during the Summer with a really consistent prep. He has very good first up stats and loves racing at Belmont, and despite no trials, if the money comes, follow.

Race Four (15:58) : Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap 1400m:

Back Me: 5 Top Of The Class (Bet Now: $6.50) has been costly her pas couple but I am willing to give her another look here. She ran over 1300m here two weeks back and tried hard but had to settle for second to Minus Looks, but I think she was ridden a touch too close to the speed, so the wide gate will ensure she gets back and attacks the line, as we saw first up where she was outstanding.
Big Danger: 3 One Short (Bet Now: $16.00) comes through the Minus Looks race where he was first up and did look to have a belly on him in the yard. Got back in the run before presenting wider and running on but he just ran out of condition late. I think with the run under the belt, and drawing better, he’ll go close.
Long Shot: 1 Gangbuster (Bet Now: $6.00) is a quality three year old that is first up for the Trevor Andrews yard. He won a Stakes race last time in and went through the Derby path early on before dropping back in distance and looking for the paddock. Recent trial was very good and blinkers on tells me he is ready to go fresh.

Race Five (16:42) : WA Bookmakers Association Handicap (72+) 1200m:

Back Me: I’m going to give 1 Gatting (Bet Now: $12.00) a look here. The WA Derby winner resumes here for a Carnival tilt and though this is short of his best distance, keep in mind he has performed well at this trip before, and he trialled sensationally behind Scales Of Justice. I think he’s right in the game with luck in running.
Big Danger: 4 Profit Street (Bet Now: $2.90) is a quality sprinter who hasn’t raced for three weeks since racing over 1200m at Ascot where he got back in the run and worked home strongly to run second to Just Act Natural. Unbeaten in three runs on the Belmont track and the big key is that Pike takes over.
Long Shot: 8 Lenience (Bet Now: $14.00) loomed to win when racing at this track/distance a fortnight back and he looked the winner for a stride or two but just lacked the killer punch when sixth to State Solicitor, beaten 2.5L. Clearly not as much depth here, draws well and I think he is a knockout chance at odds.

Race Six (17:20) : Amelia Park Handicap (1MW) 1400m:

Back Me: 12 Mantime (Bet Now: $3.30) is a three year old taking on the older horses but I’m keen on his chances here. He is on the back up after racing over 1200m here last Saturday where he attempted to lead all the way and gave a really good kick but was nabbed late by the talented filly Show Honey. Takes on the older horses now but should get every chance from the gate.
Big Danger: 1 Travellin’ (Bet Now: $13.00) is a handy enough sprinter for the Jim Taylor yard who has had a little freshen up since racing at Ascot where he was wide no cover throughout and just weakened out of it late behind Meteoroid. Again draws awkwardly, but he gets the claim for Stone and is well in.
Long Shot: 2 Helms Gate (Bet Now: $12.00) could be the big improver here. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he was midfield and wide without cover for the trip and that hard run told on him the final 200m. Draws much better here and with a better run in transit, he can bounce back hard.

Race Seven (18:00) : Auto Classic BMW Handicap (66+) 2200m:

Back Me: 3 Bergio (Bet Now: $3.70) looks the safe each way play here in a very open affair. He ran over 2100m at Ascot three weeks ago where he was wide throughout but did have cover before presenting wider at the top of the straight and finishing off strongly when second to Push To Pass. Pike remains on, draws well…ticks the boxes.
Big Danger: 5 Cappo D’Oro (Bet Now: $4.80) is a very consistent stayer for the Fred Kersley yard who is racing quite well in recent times but just can’t quite crack it for a win. Hasn’t raced for four weeks since racing over this trip at Ascot where he led at a crawl and kicked on but was no match late for Rosewood Hill. Maps well again and is a key threat.
Long Shot: 1 Verdello Blue (Bet Now: $15.00) is on the quick back up after racing over 2000m last Saturday here where he was given a lovely ride by Pike and loomed to win on the turn but he dropped out of it late in the piece behind My Magic Miss. Gets in well at the weights after the claim for Randy Tan and this is a very winnable assignment.

Race Eight (18:40) : Tabtouch Handicap (72+) 1650m:

Back Me: 2 Astronomite (Bet Now: $3.90) is a very costly horse to follow but he gets a great chance to bounce back into the winners list. Ran well first up behind Miki Two Shoes before being a major flop last time out over the mile but in his defence, he was wide no cover for the journey. D-Day for him here but I think he can rise on top.
Big Danger: 5 Red Publisher (Bet Now: $7.50) comes through that same race that Astronomite contested here two weeks ago and he was a little unlucky not to finish closer behind Tonkatuff. Got held up slightly in the straight before eventually getting clear to fill a minor spot. Where he gets to from the gate is an issue, but he is racing too well to dismiss.
Long Shot: 12 Magic Rocket (Bet Now: $23.00)drops back to the mile after racing over 2100m here a fortnight back where he had a charmed run behind the speed in the 1/1 before peeling out on the turn and looming large but he didn’t quite quicken well enough. Back to the mile is okay I think and he will be strong late.
