Moonee Valley Racecourse is located six kilometres from the Melbourne CBD and is one of the countries premier courses, hosting 4 Group One races each year including the Cox Plate.
The Cox Plate is the feature race on the calendar for the metropolitian racecourse. The 2040m Group One attracts a host of the worlds best race horses but in recent years it’s been Winx who has stolen the show on Cox Plate day.
Other notable races held at the course each year include the Manikato Stakes, AJ Moir Stakes and William Reid Stakes.
Moonee Valley Racecourse has a a total circumference of 1,805 metres with the home straight being just 173-metres in length.

Getting to Moonee Valley Racecourse
Racegoers can get to Moonee Valley racecourse via a number of public transport methods. The route 59 tram from Elizabeth Street in the Melbourne CBD will drop off passengers at Moonee Ponds Junction which is a short walk from the racecourse.
Moonee Ponds station is also an option for racegoers, the Craigieburn line goes through Moonee Ponds Station which is approximately a ten-minute walk from the racecourse.
Taxi Services and Ubers are also available but can often be in high demand on racedays.
