A bruhaha is well, brewing in the United States following a major doping scare, as fingers are pointing without any evidence.
It‘s to do with the recent Arkansas Derby race card, where champion trainer Bob Baffert landed 3 winners including both divisions of the Arkansas Derby with CHARLATAN and NADAL.
And here’s where life is interesting.
A newspaper ran a story yesterday claiming a very high profile horse just tested positive from that Derby day. He did not name the horse and the allegation, which quickly spread across the twitter universe last night in North America, reasoned it was Baffert.
And all of that has come about following on Monday in Arkansas the stewards releasing a statement claiming. “not all horses from Derby day have cleared.”
So we have nothing. Yet, because Bob Baffert trained a trio of winners on the 14-race card, and his pair are high profile, oh and because he continues to dominate horse racing in the US, he is targeted.
He, like most people, heard about the positives and the wave of innuendo toward him, via twitter.
He released this statement a short time ago: “The rules of the Arkansas Racing Commission mandate confidentiality concerning any investigation into an alleged rule violation until there is a written decision of the Stewards.
“I am extremely disappointed that, in this instance, the Commission has not followed its own rules on confidentiality. I am hoping for an expedited investigation and look forward to being able to speak soon about any written decision of the Stewards, if and when it becomes necessary and I’m allowed to under the Commission’s confidentiality rules.”
