Unfortunately we couldn’t continue the great results from day one but overall the tips weren’t far off the mark so there doesn’t seem to be a sign for panic. There looks to be some good long shot runners in the fields tomorrow and hopefully I’ve gone with the right ones. View my tips for Day 3 of the Royal Ascot carnival.

Race 1 – 2.30 pm Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) 2 £75,000 5f:
The first race on day three of the Royal Ascot Carnival is a Group 2 for 2YO’s over 5 furlongs. Like many of the 2YO races so far this is another quality field with quite a few of the runners having good chances to win. Im going to use the Coventry Stakes form looking at this race which gives me Mister Marc on top with the son of Acclamation running second to him last start.
Race 2 – 3.05 pm Ribblesdale Stakes (Group 2) 3 fillies £100,000 1.5m:
Race 2 for the day gives us a Group 2 race for Fillies. Overall it looks a very even race which makes me think current favourite The Fugue is under the odds. I like the Aidan O’Brien runner Twirl who was sent out as favourite against The Fugue two starts ago. She was very disappointing but im willing to give her another chance.
Race 3 – 3.45 pm Gold Cup (Group 1) 4+ £250,000 2.5m:
The feature race of the day is the Group 1 Gold Cup over 2.5 miles. Fame And Glory looks the obvious horse to beat in the race and is likely to be sent out at even money, i feel he is a very good chance but i like rising stayer Saddler’s Rock. I thought his win two starts ago against campaigned stayer Opinion Poll was excellent. He returned on a very heavy track last start at Leopardstown and ran well, should strip fitter here and be the horse to upset the favourite.
Race 4 – 4.25 pm Britannia Stakes (Handicap) 3 colts & geldings £100,000 1m:
The Britannia Stakes hosts a field of 30 runners which ultimately makes it a very open race over a mile. I really liked the run of Prince Alzain last start where he made up a lot of ground to run 3rd. Steps up in distance which should suit and has shown he has a lot of up side, with the big field you should get good each way odds and he will be right in the finish.
Race 5 – 5.00pm Hampton Court Stakes (Listed) 3 £70,000 1.25m:
A tough race to analyse for the 3YO’s over 1.2 miles. I’m going with Rewarded who i thought was unlucky not to have won when finishing fourth. He will race over the same distance and with some luck he should better his last start result and is at good each way odds.
Race 6 – 5.35 pm King George V Stakes (Handicap) 3 £50,000 1.5m:
The last race of the day is a Handicap race for 3YO’s over 1.5 miles. There is no respite for punters either with another wide open field of 19 runners. I’m going to go with the horse who i think is the best horse in the race Anomaly, he increases in distance which looks like it will suit and looks to be a very good stayer in the making. Hopefully he has continued to mature and if he has he is definitely the horse to beat in this race and one to look out for in the future.
