The Melbourne Cup is among the options being considered for Red Cadeaux following his win in the Group Three Curragh Cup.
Trainer Ed Dunlop concentrated on the staying feature after he withdrew Snow Fairy from the Group One Pretty Polly due to the soft track.
In the hands of Tom McLaughlin, Red Cadeaux was a runaway nine length winner of the 2800m race.
“We thought he was very unlucky at Pontefract on Sunday when he got knocked over making a run,” Dunlop said.
“We knew he’d like the ground and that he’d stay well. He was very impressive.
“The owner is based in Hong Kong. We’ve discussed things like the Melbourne Cup and we might consider the Irish Leger on this type of ground. He’s adaptable, from a mile and a half to two miles.”
Red Cadeaux is owned by Ronald Arculli, a former chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
