Joao Moreira kept up his winning form for Australian trainers at the weekend with a Singapore victory for Michael Freedman.
A day after riding the John Thompson-trained Trusting to win the Chelmsford Stakes during a hit-and-run Sydney trip, the Brazilian jockey teamed with Freedman in Zac Warrior’s victory at Kranji.
Moreira earned mixed reviews for his Warwick Farm rides for the Patinack Farm team but there is a strong chance he will return to continue his association with Trusting in the George Main Stakes on Saturday week.
“It was a great experience to be riding down there (in Sydney),” Moreira told the Singapore Turf Club website.
“The pace in the races was hard to judge sometimes and they do ride a lot tighter down there as well.
“It was certainly a great thrill to win the main race as well.
“It may not have been my biggest race that I have won, but there was certainly prestige with it.
“I just love winning races, whether it is here in Singapore, down in Australia back in Brazil or anywhere around the world. I just want to keep winning races for as long as I can.”
In Moreira’s absence at Rosehill on Saturday the Patinack Farm-backed Thompson has called on four jockeys.
Early bookings include Christian Reith on the Listed-winning mare Galizani in the Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) and the outstanding New Zealand apprentice James McDonald on Levi’s Choice in a support race.
