Corine Barande-Barbe believes Cirrus Des Aigles will be at peak form when he lines up for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
The trainer felt her stable star was only at 60 per cent fitness when he made his return from injury in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last month.
Since finishing fifth behind Novellist, who he meets again in the summer showpiece, Barande-Barbe believes Cirrus Des Aigles has thrived.
“Since Saint-Cloud he has done exactly what I wanted him to do. He went higher after the race and after each of his little and bigger bits of work and I think he will be very well on Saturday,” Barande-Barbe told At The Races.
“I think he is as good as ever. I gave him plenty of time and my choice was to wait as long as I could. Even the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud was a bit short in time, but he was able to go and run and I did.
“He was probably at 60 per cent for that race. He really needed it because this horse feeds himself on competition.”
