Race 1. (22:05) British E.B.F. Ebf Maiden Stakes 1408m
Looks a race in two. 2 Classic (Bet Now: $1.60) does get the nod though. I thought there was plenty to like about his debut at Newbury, working home with purpose despite not getting much luck at a crucial stage when fourth. If this was a mile, I’d almost declare, but staying at 1400m is fine and should be strong at the end.
4 Loyal Touch (Bet Now: $6.50) is the other key winning chance. He debuted at Salisbury when wide throughout and battled away really well when fourth, just running out of puff late. The form out of the race has been on the plain side but he has enormous upside IMO and gets Ryan Moore.
1 Bussento (Bet Now: $18.00) is on debut for Eve Johnson Houghton and could be worth including at a price. On breeding, he looks as if he should go okay, with winning bloodlines through the family. Drawn out should be fine and take out the first two, as a whole, this is a thin race.
Race 2. (22:40) Coral Stewards' Sprint Handicap 1207m
7 Lethal Levi (Bet Now: $2.25) is becoming a good horse and is a winner. He has won his past two over 1200m at Newmarket. Last start was quite impressive because he was on speed and there to be run down, but once he was clicked up, he drew clear and really attacked the line late. No reason to jump off.
5 Nelson Gay (Bet Now: $9.50) is suited back up to 1200m. He was 1200m back to 1000m at Sandown last time where he was back in the run and held up before angling clear and finding the line strongly when a close up fourth. Like him back up to 1200m and good lead that Ryan Moore sticks.
2 Dream Composer (Bet Now: $8.50) has a good track/distance record, which should hold him in good stead. His last couple have come at Pontefract, the latest a solid fourth over 1200m. He does have a win at the Goodwood 1200m so that is a tick. Just needs luck from the gate in getting towards the better ground.
Race 3. (23:10) Coral Summer Handicap 2816m
The each way speck for the meeting comes here in the shape of 14 Red Flyer (Bet Now: $14.00). He tends to race best on the fresh side and was a few weeks between runs when racing over 2800m at Newmarket when on speed throughout and he kept finding under pressure, only getting nabbed late by Soapy Stevens, who had the suck run and finished best, just. Harder here, but he’ll roll forward and give plenty of cheek.
4 Soapy Stevens (Bet Now: $6.50) is heading in the right direction. He is looking to make it three wins on the bounce, his latest win in the Newmarket race mentioned above where he got a beaut sit behind the speed before angling clear and finishing best in a driving go. He’ll stay all day and be strong late.
13 Bague D’Or (Bet Now: $7.00) is another that is looking to make it three wins on the bounce. His latest win came a few weeks back at Ascot when getting a soft run behind the speed before Callan angled towards the inside and finished off his race nicely to win narrowly but impressively. Does no work again and should be around the mark.
Race 4. (23:45) Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes 2816m
I’m really keen on 7 Emily Dickinson (Bet Now: $3.00). She loved a rise to this trip two back at Leopardstown when a narrow second in a good effort. Then came back to 2400m in the Irish Oaks and was far from disgraced when fourth. Gets back up to 2800m, has upside and has the O’Brien/Moore combo. She’ll do me.
2800m is a query with 3 Sea La Rosa (Bet Now: $2.70) but she is a mare in form. Ran over 2400m at Haydock last time out where she ran second, beaten 2.25L, but really, the margin should have been double, maybe even tripled, with the eventual winner nearly crashing through the rail but got clear and spanked, so that does leave me with reservations at 2800m with her but she does have class.
5 Viola (Bet Now: $13.00) lacks the class of a couple of these, but she is honest. Ran second to Sea La Rose two back at Haydock before going to a Listed race at Newmarket and was just fair when third to Eternal Pearl. beaten over five lengths. Doubt she wins, but a first four threat.
Race 5. (00:20) Coral Stewards' Cup 1207m
21 Rathbone (Bet Now: $34.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at a big price. Lovely patient steer saw him win at Hamilton Park last time, sitting back in the run before angling towards the inside of the pack and in a driving go, he finished best. I reckon with a more patient steer, he’ll be more effective late and with a stack of speed engaged here, I want to be on something that will be strong late.
17 Inver Park (Bet Now: $9.50) is flying since joining George Boughey, a stable that has done a very good job in a short space of time. Made it three on the bounce when taking out the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot. That was over 1400m. Interesitng he comes back to 1200m, but his record suggests 1200m is his sweet spot.
18 First Folio (Bet Now: $11.00) comes here with fresh legs. He is several weeks between runs since contesting the Wokingham where he was far from disgraced in defeat when sixth of 26, beaten just under four lengths. He does tend to race well on the fresh side so he commands respect.
Race 6. (00:55) Medallia Handicap 1408m
With upside to come, I am in the corner of 5 Spirit Of Nguru (Bet Now: $6.00). He resumed over 1400m at Haydock where he was seemingly given every chance by Fallon. He loomed to win and beat Zero Carbon but that horse had a pull in the weights and race fitness, which got that horse the win. Upside to come and with Marquand taking over, he’ll do me.
10 Zero Carbon (Bet Now: $7.50) is lightly raced three year old for Richard Hughes that will put himself on speed and give his all. That is what he did in that haydock race mentioned above and I loved the ticker he showed to fend off Spirit Of Nguru and get the win. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.
Back to 1400m I like for 4 Laasudood (Bet Now: $10.00). Last three runs have come at the mile, the latest seeing him finish down the track at Newmarket in a race which was much stronger than this. Back to 1400m looks to be a positive and I think his best is certainly good enough.
Race 7. (01:30) Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Handicap 1821m
1 Forest Falcon (Bet Now: $4.50) has to lump a fair amount of weight, but it’s hard to get away from him. There was a lot of arrogance about the win here on Tuesday night. Frankie rode him positively from the outset and the end result was a dominant win, being eased down late yet still winning comfortably. Rises big time in weight, but he’s the one they have to beat.
2 Ajero (Bet Now: $5.50) is mainly a hurdle performer, but he is capable on the flat. He ran over 2400m at Royal Ascot last month and looked the winner in the run but had to settle for a narrow second. Back to 1800m I find interesting but he will be one that will be quite strong at the end.
5 Fantasy Believer (Bet Now: $11.00) is looking to make it three on the bounce. Narrow but strong win two back at Newbury before going to Ascot where he was suited by the race shape and came with a well timed run to nab them late. Harder here, but he deserves a crack and commands respect.
