‘It’s a big pedigree, and he’s a big, strong, tough colt with the scope to keep developing,’ said Vinery Stud of their I Am Invincible half-brother to Santa Ana Lane at the Magic Millions.
In highlighting Tues. 11 January, Day 1 of the MM Gold Coast Yearling Sale, he’s an August foal from the winning Fastnet Rock mare Fast Fleet, a half-sister to Blimey O’Reilly and Flag Officer.
With Santa Ana Lane being a five times Gr1 winner and Champion Sprinter in 2018-19, it’s the I Am Invincible 8 October foaled colt on Day 5, that also highlights Vinery’s 28 yearling draft.
Being from the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes winner Diademe, and a half-brother to Unition and Conqueror, he’s the immediate family of NZ Two Thousand Guineas winner Embellish.
With the I Am Invincible filly being Vinery’s $700,000 top lot at the 2021 Magic Million, it gave Vinery a ‘year to remember’ with an exceptional 94% clearance rate and a $303,125 average.
Another I Am Invincible filly followed at the Sydney Easter Yearling Sale, selling for $1.4m on Day 2, and joined the three million-dollar colts who had given Vinery a ‘topping’ $650,625 average.
With Tony Fung paying $3.15m for two Exceed and Excel colts at Easter, it’s certain he’ll be viewing this Pure Beauty filly, an October foal from the family of Spurtonic and Carnegie House.
In being no stranger to Vinery, the internationally successful Exceed and Excel was a $375,000 graduate of the Vinery draft at the 2002 Easter Yearling Sale for Rosehill trainer Tim Martin.
Top First Season Sire Russian Revolution is also a Vinery graduate, and now the foundation sire of Widden Victoria, his Moretti colt selling on Day 2 being the family of Bentley Biscuit.
With Vinery’s own Star Turn being a good third as Second Crop Sire, his Warm Charge colt is Lot 680 with stakes winner Warm Smytzer as his grandam. His Arctic Success colt is Lot 547 with the Golden Slipper winner Polar Success as his second dam.
Vinery’s heavyweight All Too Hard continues to be popular with owners and trainers, with a colt from Presslist, herself a half-sister to Press Statement and Pressday, being Lot 387 on Day 2.
Also Day 2 is the Proposal filly, whose grandam is Sacred Choice, while Lot 738 is the Amalfi Dreams colt the family of Drum Beat and Lot 866 is a second foal colt of the city winner Cocoexcel.
The success of More Than Ready continues to amaze, with his four colts headed by Lot 470 on Day 3, a full-brother to top-line racehorse and sire Better Than Ready, from Sally’s World.
Day 1 is Lot 152 an August foal Ivory Rose colt the family of Lope de Vega, while on Day 3 it’s the Rosenet colt the family of Castelvecchio, and his Tartufi colt a half-brother to US group winner Blueeyesintherein.
Vinery’s first season sire lots feature the Trapeze Artist-Viviette first foal colt as Lot 673 the family of Cape Cross and Iffraaj, with Lot 863 being The Autumn Sun-Cleanup half-sister to Nettoyer.
Also at this Magic Millions, Vinery Stud has an outstanding colt and three fillies by Zoustar, Snitzel with a colt and filly, Dundeel with three fillies plus colts by Vanouver and Deep Field.
‘We’re looking forward to the Gold Coast,’ boasted Vinery with the farm inspections been very popular and the feedback from agents and trainers having their yearlings making their short-lists.
‘The market is as strong as ever and we have the yearlings across the board to be confident of a good start. I can’t see any reason why we can’t at least match last year returns.’
Already this season the 2021 $600,000 graduate Capital Tower has made it two-from-two for trainer Tony Golan and is on-track to match Golden Slipper winner Farnan, Artorius the Blue Diamond Stakes winner and Exhilarates in winning the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
