The weather will determine if Red Tracer forms part of Chris Waller’s Rosehill representation on Saturday when the premier trainer looks set to claim his 100th Sydney winner for the season.

Waller, who moved to 99.5 wins with a double on Wednesday, has 13 runners entered across eight races but says Red Tracer isn’t a confirmed starter in the Fujitsu Air Conditioning Handicap (1100m).

“She’ll probably run if it’s a wet track but if it’s not then I’m not that keen on running her,” Waller said.

“Why? Because I think she is better on a dead or slow track and I think she would need that advantage with that big weight.”

Red Tracer has 61.5kg but apprentice Shaun Guymer will take 3kg off that impost.

The multiple stakeswinner tuned up for her return with a soft trial win at Hawkesbury on Monday and Waller is considering starts in both the Group One Stradbroke Handicap and Tattersall’s Tiara during the Brisbane carnival.

“She’s a chance at running in the Stradbroke, especially if she runs on Saturday,” Waller said.

Stablemate Tromso is entered to resume in the same race.

“He, on the other hand, wouldn’t run if it was wet,” Waller said.

“He has come back really well. He’s nice and fresh and just needs dead or better ground.”

Lucripetous and Eliza Blues will take aim in the Evans And Partners Handicap (2000m) with a start in the Classic races in Brisbane on the cards should they make their presence felt.

Lucripetous is being aimed at the Queensland Derby (2400m) on June 9.

“He’ll need to win or run a very good race to go to the Derby,” Waller said.

“He’s still a first-preparation three-year-old learning his trade and we’ve decided to keep him home up until now away from the pressure-type racing of Queensland.

“But we’ll put him under a bit of pressure on Saturday and try to ride him more positively in a midfield position, rather than getting back and always looking the one to back next time.

“He’s now mature enough to be put under some pressure and he’s done excellent since his last start.”

Saturday week’s Queensland Oaks has also been in Waller’s sights with Eliza Blues who was a last start fourth to Euryale over 1800m at Rosehill.

“If she was to win or run second she would probably go up for the Oaks,” Waller said.

“That’s been the plan all along.”
