Western Australia stewards have disqualified and fined a Bunbury trainer after six horses were found to be in poor condition on the trainers property.
Trainer Matteo Daqui was disqualified for 12 months and received a $1500 fine after an inquiry found that six horses on his property were in below average body condition, with three of the six horses requiring veterinary treatment for lice. All six horses horses were in need of farrier attention.
Daqui was found guilty of three charges including being a person in charge of a horse and failing to provide veterinary treatment that was necessary.
When handing down their punishment to Daqui, stewards took into account his prior record when he was fined $1500 in 2015 for failing to provide proper and sufficient nutrition for a horse.
