Tulsa will be sent to Sydney to run in the Randwick Guineas because of a better barrier draw.
Tulsa is an acceptor in the Randwick Guineas and the Australian Guineas at Flemington.
But trainer Mike Moroney said Tulsa was scheduled to travel from Melbourne to Sydney on Thursday night to take on Press Statement in Saturday’s $1 million race at Randwick.
Moroney had been leaning to keeping Tulsa in Melbourne if he made the field for Australian Guineas, but confirmed the Sydney race appealed as a better option after the barrier draws.
Tulsa has barrier six at Randwick and gate 15 of 16 at Flemington.
“If you take Press Statement out, it’s not a stronger race, we don’t think, as what it is here and we’ve also got eyes on the Rosehill Guineas with him,” Moroney said.
Moroney said Tulsa had galloped in the right-handed direction without concern.
Caulfield Guineas winner Press Statement is the $1.50 favourite with Tulsa at $17.
Moroney has Tivaci, winner of the CS Hayes Stakes on protest last start, in the Australian Guineas.
“He’s a really good trackworker and worked great on Tuesday and looks terrific,” Moroney said.
