Trainer Doug Harrison is confident promising three-year-old Tudor is back to his best for a $150,0000 race at Caulfield.
Tudor battled a cold before his most recent race at Flemington on March 14, a setback that was exacerbated due to a temperature.
But a barrier trial victory on Tuesday has helped ease Harrison’s concerns, convincing him to send Tudor to Caulfield on Saturday to contest the VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m).
Winless this campaign, Tudor’s rivals will include Group One winner Trust In A Gust and last-start stakes winner Tycoon Tara.
Tudor’s form was solid before his last-start seventh at Flemington and included a Listed placing at Moonee Valley.
Harrison isn’t concerned Tudor has drawn off the track because the colt doesn’t like being cluttered up inside horses.
“We’re a little too close to Trust In A Gust in the weights but I don’t think too many thought he’d be in the race,” Harrison said.
“But that’s where the VOBIS Gold comes in and we’re racing for good money.”
Trust In A Gust is a clea-rcut $2 favourite with Tudor a $15 chance.
