Trust In A Gust has posted successive Group One wins with a fighting victory in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield.
Giving everything for Brad Rawiller, Trust In A Gust travelled outside the leader before he hit the front at the 300m.
The four-year-old set up a clear lead at the 200m although there were no shortage of chasers.
But as his opposition got closer, Trust In A Gust ($4.60) continued to find for his jockey and he safely held the fast-finishing Speediness ($19).
Desert Jeuney ran on in the centre to take the minor placing.
Trust In A Gust scored a breakthrough Group One in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes last month.
Trainer Darren Weir said Trust In A Gust would now be considered for a start in the Group One Emirates Stakes on the last day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
“What a ride,” Weir said.
“What a great horse to train. Sound. Tough. Makes his luck.
“The perfect sort of horse for what trainers are looking for.”
