Owner Bob Peters and trainers Grant and Alana Williams have won the Group One Kingston Town Classic although not with the favoured runner after Truly Great upset short priced Inspirational Girl in the feature at Ascot.
Truly Great who was sent out as a $16 chance with Sportsbet was given a perfect run throughout by jockey Chris Parnham and the gap he put on race favourite Inspirational Girl at the 200m was too big for the fast finishing G1 Railway Stakes winner.
Insperational Girl who jumped as the $2.15 favourite was taken back by jockey William Pike but an arguably ill-timed ride cost the mare back to back Group One wins.
Truly Great following his win has shortened into the $2.60 favourite for next months Perth Cup at Ascot.
The win has given jockey Chris Parnham his first Group One win of his career.
