Chris Waller has surprised many people after he announced where Champion mare Winx will have her next run.
Winx will head to Melbourne for her next start with the Champion mare looking to make it twenty one straight wins in the G1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.
Prior to this mornings announcement Winx was expected to run in either the Craven Plate or the Caulfield Stakes but will bypass both despite the ATC increasing the Prizemoney for the Craven Plate to entice Winx to run on The Everest day at Randwick.
This means Winx will have her first run at Flemington, the decision was made as it looks an ideal lead up race into the 2017 Cox Plate three weeks later.
Chris Waller has also announced that Winx will not wear earmuffs as he feels they are no longer required and if in the unlikely chance that Winx does not line-up in the Turnbull Stakes the Craven Plate will be her back-up race.
Hartnell was the $2.50 favourite for the Turnbull Stakes before this announcement.
