Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa al Maktoum has continued his spending spree on the second day of the Australian Easter Yearling sale in Sydney.
A member of Dubai’s royal family, the sheikh spent $3.6 million on four yearlings offered in the first session.
Early on Wednesday he secured a $1.5 million Street Cry-Star On High colt in partnership with Golden Slipper winning-owner His Excellency Nasser Lootah.
Trevor Lobb, general manager of Nasser Lootah’s Emirates Park, confirmed the colt would be raced in a 50-50 partnership.
It is the highest price paid at auction in Australia for any progeny of Street Cry, the sire of 2009 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking.
On Tuesday the sheikh paid $1.5 million for a brother to Group One winner Snitzerland who runs in Saturday’s TJ Smith Stakes.
