Star Witness was due to enter quarantine on Sunday ahead of his long journey home after a mixed Group One campaign in England.
The Danny O’Brien-trained colt ran second in the King’s Stand and third in the Golden Jubilee at the Royal Ascot meeting but ended his stay with a disappointing 10th in Saturday’s July Cup.
Star Witness started favourite in the gruelling 1200m race on the undulating July course at Newmarket but could not muster a finishing sprint and weakened after being on terms in the first part of the race won by Dream Ahead.
A dual Group One winner in Australia, Star Witness will command a service fee of $33,000 at Widden Stud this spring.
Hinchinbrook, who accompanied Star Witness to England, missed the Golden Jubilee due to injury and was immediately retired.
The multiple Group One placegetter will stand at Yarraman Park Stud in NSW with his service fee set at $16,500.
