Queensland trainer Desleigh Forster is confident the speedy Adebisi will look the winner at some stage in Saturday’s Carlyon Stakes at Moonee Valley.
However, Forster admits the outside alley makes the task a more difficult one for the stakes winner who won a Group race in his only other trip to Melbourne earlier this year.
Adebisi won the Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in February before finishing fifth in the Group One Oakleigh Plate over the same course and distance.
He makes his return to Melbourne in Saturday’s Listed 1000m contest on the back of a last-start third in Brisbane under 60.5kg.
Forster said the sprinter was easier to place in Melbourne than Brisbane at this time of year.
Should he race to victory on Saturday, Group One sprints such as the Moir Stakes and Manikato Stakes at the same track will be on his spring agenda.
Forster said Adebisi didn’t handle Caulfield, despite winning the Rubiton, in his two starts there but is hoping he takes to the Moonee Valley course.
“They say Caulfield is the graveyard for visiting horses so hopefully he gets around the Valley,” Forster said.
“Hopefully he can zip off the corner.”
Forster but believes Adebisi has the speed to cross from the “awkward gate” and take up a forward position, whether it be in the lead or outside the leader.
“He’ll jump out and run along and look the winner at some stage,” Forster said.
