Racing Victoria will undertake a verification process to identify the legitimacy of all votes

Verification of voting on the All Star Mile has indicated the top 10 has not been compromised despite some people submitting more than the allowed one selection.

Terms and conditions for voting on the inaugural running of the $5 million All Star Mile at Flemington on March 16 allows for only one vote per customer.

It has been revealed around two per cent of the more than 100,000 votes lodged are from multiple voters, but Racing Victoria’s general manager of racing Greg Carpenter says the voting has not been compromised.

“If we identify anyone as having voted more than once, those votes will be removed at the conclusion of the voting period,” Carpenter told RSN927.

“It has been possible for people to submit more than one vote by creating multiple email addresses but we are able to track all of those multiple votes and in the 72-hour verification process of voting, which will commence when voting closes on Monday, those votes will be removed.

“There has not been any concerted campaign in favour of any one horse and there’s not been a person that has gone out and created a hundred email addresses.”

Just over three days remain for voting with the leader board going blind at noon on Friday until voting closes on February 18.

The 10 highest vote getters will be announced on February 21.

Carpenter said a verification process would be undertaken to identify the legitimacy of all votes in line with other consumer competitions.

He said it was hard to stop people voting on a number of occasions.

“What is important there are protection mechanisms that they are identified, removed from the voting and do not influence the outcome,” Carpenter said.

The Autumn Sun currently leads ahead of Queensland-trained Urban Ruler and Grunt with Godolphin mare Alizee fourth.
