Sedanzer has the Group One Tatt’s Tiara on her radar providing one of the stand-out performers of the summer can replicate her form for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

The training partnership had considered running the four-year-old during the autumn carnival but following Sedanzer’s close second in January’s Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) at the Gold Coast, decided on a return trip to Queensland.

Sedanzer resumes in the Group Three Godolphin Crown (1300m) at Hawkesbury on Saturday when Bott hopes she can forge ahead to the Group Three Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone and ultimately Doomben on June 23.

“We’ll try and go on that path. We’ll look to try and keep her to those shorter distances for the fillies and mares,” Bott said.

He said Waterhouse had been tempted pick out a target during autumn but erred on the side of caution.

“We were mindful that she’d been up for a while and that we got her right up in trip for the Magic Millions,” he said.

“We wanted to give her that break, get a bit of speed into her legs and go for this type of program.”

Sedanzer made the step up from three-year-old racing to open class with three Benchmark Handicap wins and a second placing in the Group Two Belle Of The Turf (1600m) to one of Saturday’s rivals Pecans, before heading to the Gold Coast.

“She was hugely impressive and she’s trialled really well. She still showed she’s got that brilliant turn of foot.”

Sedanzer has had two trials over 900m and 1030m and Bott was delighted with how she has returned from her break.

“She’s very genuine, she’s been training well it’s up to her now to show she’s read to take that next step.”

Sedanzer was the $4 favourite with the TAB on Thursday and jumps from barrier three in the capacity field of 14.

Bott said the plan was for Tim Clark to position her a touch off the pace as she lacks the tactical speed normally associated with the stable.

The Jason Coyle-trained White Moss was the joint $5 second elect with Invincibella from Chris Waller’s stable.
