Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have a very, very good racehorse on their hands in SCAREMENTO (Pierro-Alzora).
As do a host of owners who now have won just on $300,000 with him following a brilliant front-running and fast performance at Randwick.
He led after about 150m, and just kept going faster and faster as the race went on winning by 3 lengths untouched and clocking a very fast 2:01.82.
It was his 5th win from 15 starts with three minor placings.
Said Bott after the race, โheโs a very tough and honest horse.โ
โHe has never been blessed with speed but he has a very high cruising speed. He also has great staying ability and stamina and he is now at his peak which is what we wanted because we have big plans coming up with him.โ
No specific mention as to what by Bott, but on todayโs BM 88 win over 2000m under 57kg he looks likely to be a threat in many, many staying races including Group events. Speed and honesty and toughness are his hallmarks.
Heโs only a 4YO as well.
NEW ARRANGEMENT (New Approach-Sooraah) chased home hard. Some punters he would be harder to beat than the last time this pair met because he ran home hard over 1800m to fail by a nose.
Today he was honest again but the winner has progressed and has shown he can race like this for 2800m.
KISS THE BRIDE (Savabeel-I Do) was a tough, hard fought 3rd after chasing the winner all the way.
Sacramento cost $160,000 as a yearling when purchased out of the Melbourne Inglis Premier sale.
He has already proven a great bargain with a LOT more wins and prize money to come.
Sacramento shortened from $51 into $26 in betting for the G1 Australian Cup following his win.
