Racing Victoria stewards are investigating the possible use of a hand-held battery device also know as a jigger which was found at Geelong racecourse in December last year.
“We can confirm that Racing Victoria stewards are conducting an investigation into the circumstances that led to a hand-held battery device being discovered on a training track at Geelong Racecourse during December 2015.”
“That investigation remains ongoing and thus we do not intend to comment on the specifics further at this time.”
The use of the jiggers on horses can result in lengthy penalties. Trainer Paul Preusker received a four year disqualification and jockey Holly McKechnie three years for the use of an electrical device in 2007.
The use of the electronic devices are to urge horses to run faster.
