Sometimes in life you just have to acknowledge death can work for you.
And today at a tight little bush racetrack in northern NSW called Ballina, we see a moment in time that may be meant to be.
Let me explain.
Former popular, talented horse-breaker and Warwick Farm trainer Rick Worthington had a stable of runners in his keep when he sadly passed away a few weeks back.
A by-product of death means those horses had to be dispersed to new mentors.
One of them, BOMBAY NIGHTS (Zoffany-Bombay) lines up in race 3 up there today at Ballina for her new trainer Matty Dunn.
And she does look poised for a win.
She just is deliciously placed. The horse has raced at this tight little track, coming from well off the pace to grab a 2nd in this grade last start.
That run indicated she was ready for a longer race and she gets that today too.
The extra 310m is probably in her favour although she’s not been tried this far.
I’m prepared to overlook that and pray Worthington has a guiding hand from Heaven helping her take the spoils at around $2.20 all day.
