Randwick remained in the heavy range on Wednesday with more rain expected ahead of Saturday’s big Doncaster Mile meeting.
The downpours in Sydney forced the cancellation of Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting.
“From roughly seven o’clock yesterday morning until four o’clock this afternoon we’ve had 80 millimetres of rain,” Randwick’s track manager Nevesh Ramdhani said.
“The track is rated a heavy eight and we’ve got more rain forecast for tomorrow.”
The forecast improves for Friday and Saturday to partly cloudy with showers and Ramdhani is hopeful there will be a break in the weather ahead of the meeting which has three Group Ones on the nine-race card.
“It will be rain-affected but how rain-affected will depend on what the weather does on Friday and Saturday,” he said.
“If we get any drying conditions with no rain for a prolonged period then it could improve pretty quickly.”
