Irish St Leger flop Profound Beauty is still on target for the Melbourne Cup after the disappointment of her failure at The Curragh at the weekend.
Despite the below par performance, the Dermot Weld stable has confirmed its intention to push on towards the Melbourne Cup.
“We are still going to put her in quarantine,†Weld’s son Kris told the Irish Times.
“She has come out of the Leger well and the plan remains Melbourne.
“The ground was all against her on Saturday. She didn’t like it at all.â€
Profound Beauty has eased from $12 to $16 with most Australian bookmakers.
She carried 51.5kg in last year’s Melbourne Cup when finishing fifth behind Viewed.
This year she was given 53.5kg by Racing Victoria handicappers off the back of the three stakes wins before Saturday’s defeat.
