Chris Waller continued his plunder of Group One races during the Queensland winter carnival when Press Statement won the JJ Atkins at Doomben on Saturday.
Going into the biggest meeting of the winter, Waller had already captured carnival Group One wins with Boban in the Doomben 10,000 and Winx in the Queensland Oaks.
And it was easy work for the premier Sydney trainer to bring up his 14th Group One victory for the season as Press Statement had the $600,000 two-year-old feature in his keeping at the 300m.
One of three runners for Waller, Press Statement established a clear-cut lead under Tye Angland and easily held Sagaronne and Look To The Stars who made their runs from the back.
Press Statement, a half-brother to Waller’s 2010 Atkins winner Pressday, is now unbeaten in three starts.
