Black Caviar’s first foal Oscietra has broken her maiden status at start two taking out the third race on today’s Geelong card.
The first foal of the unbeaten sprint champion led out of the gates before kicking clear of Sancy’s Diamond and Consider It Done at the 200m in Friday’s 1000m maiden on the synthetic track.
Oscietra finished third over the same distance at her previous start as a two-year-old in January.
By Exceed And Excel, Oscietra is the first of Black Caviar’s foals to race.
Black Caviar was unbeaten in her 25-start career from 2009 to 2013 which included 15 Group One races.
She opened at $1.50 but continued to drift in betting out to $2.40 before shortening late to jump at $2.10 with CrownBet.
No plans have yet been set for her campaign with connections happy to get the maiden win out of the way although bookmaker Sportsbet has her at $26 in Thousand Guineas markets.
