Champion jockey Damien Oliver has lost a bid to downgrade his reckless riding charge but still hopes to be allowed to ride in Saturday’s Victoria Derby meeting.
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on Monday upheld Oliver’s reckless riding charge over his winning ride on Flying Artie in the Blue Sapphire Stakes on October 12.
VCAT vice president Judge Pamela Jenkins is now hearing submissions on penalty with Oliver hoping to have his 20-meeting suspension reduced.
