Scone Race Club chairman Noel Leckie has died suddenly aged 64.
Leckie was a prime mover behind Scone’s successful annual carnival with the the second day of the May fixture in the Hunter Valley holding metropolitan status.
“Noel was one of the most conscientious and professional racing administrators I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with,” Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys said.
“Without doubt Noel’s efforts landed Scone its stand-alone Saturday meeting and remains the only country club to have one.”
Leckie operated a chartered accountancy practice for 24 years in Scone having previously worked at Coopers & Lybrand.
He is survived by wife Julie and children, Campbell and Skye.
