Star of Night has shown a return to the form which once had her rated among Queensland’s most promising two-year-olds with a win at Eagle Farm.

The now four-year-old scored her fifth win at the track on Wednesday but there seems little doubt she would be racing in better company except for injury problems.

As a juvenile, Star of Night was third in the Group Three B J McLachlan Stakes and second in the Listed Tattersall’s Stakes.

Star Of Night showed that type of form under a big weight when caught three-deep for much of Wednesday’s race and proved too strong for handy field of Class Four mares.

“We have had to battle with her hoof problems but she seems to be coming right,” trainer David Kelly said.

“Two runs back she ran a good race in the Magic Millions fillies and mares race when trapped very deep the whole way.

“She has now won her past two starts in midweek company so it is time to look at heading back to Saturday racing.”

Remembering Frank continued a family tradition at Wednesday’s meeting when he led all the way to win the Maiden Plate (1200m).

The gelding was the latest in a long line of winners for the broodmare Cantantes who Robert Heathcote trained to win races at Eagle Farm and the Sunshine Coast a decade ago.

“It’s been as a broodmare she has been terrific for my wife Vicki who owns her,” Heathcote said.

“Cantantes has produced seven winners including stakes horses Funtantes and Excellantes.

“I have got to give a lot of credit to Remembering Frank’s strapper Maggie Harrison who is jockey Tegan Harrison’s cousin.

“Maggie rides him all his work and declared him today.”

Heathcote brought up a double when Fortini ($6.50) lived up to his good form from last campaign by winning a Class Fou (1200m).

“He has been close up behind some pretty smart horses last campaign and he looked well placed here,” Heathcote said.
