The Darren Weir trained Nature Strip was sent out as the short priced favourite in last nights Moir Stakes but a disappointing run has cast serious doubt over an Everest start.
Nature Strip jumped as the heavily backed $1.80 favourite in Friday nights Group One Moir Stakes and led for a majority of the race before being overrun early in the straight to be well beaten by Viddora.
Following the run trainer Darren Weir has expressed concern over the horses campaign which was set to include the $13m Everest saying a run in the richest race in Australia is now unlikely.
Bookmakers have moved Nature Strip’s odds out to $13 from $7 following the race whilst winner Viddora has had her Everest odds slashed into $15 and would be the favourite to take the ATC’s slot if Nature Strip does not head to the race.
"We'd love to get him to The Everest but the horse comes first."
