Thousand Guineas-winning filly Stay With Me is set to take on the mares in the Group One Myer Classic at her next start.
Trainer David Hayes has confirmed plans to run the three-year-old in the weight-for-age Myer Classic (1600m) on October 31 but has not confirmed a jockey for the ride at 49kg.
Stay With Me emulated her famous dam Miss Finland by winning the Group One Thousand Guineas last Saturday at Caulfield.
Miss Finland won the Thousand Guineas in 2006, one of five Group One races the champion filly won during her racing career including the VRC Oaks but Hayes wants to restrict Stay With Me to shorter trips this campaign.
Hayes said Stay With Me had come through the Thousand Guineas well.
“I think she’s just starting to peak,” Hayes said.
“I probably don’t want to go much further than a mile this preparation.
“I don’t think she’s racing like a stayer at the moment. She’s over-racing a little bit, so I’ll just keep her at the shorter distance.”
