The 6-year-old grey Murt the Flirt will be looking to pick up victory number 5 on Friday night when he takes on the 55-second challenge at the Valley. The Brendan McCarthy trained galloper hasn’t won in 8 starts, with his current dry spell dating back to the 12th of October 2016.

Though making a less than impressive return in the Magic Millions Sprint, the form of Murt the Flirt throughout 2017 points to an upcoming win, headlined by a 3rd placing in the Group 3 Monash Stakes, finishing just 1 length off the very promising Supido.

It will be an enjoyable drop in class for the gelding by Murtajill, also placing in the 2017 Magic Millions Sprint behind Target in Sight and Viddora, before an honest showing in the Regal Roller Stakes where he was defeated by the likes of Vega Magic, Brave Smash and Santa Ana Lane.

Boasting a first up record of 3 wins and 2 places from 6 starts, connections of Murt the Flirt will be hoping his class prevails after knocking off some big names in his career so far including gun sprinters Dothraki and Husson Eagle.

It will be all systems go tomorrow night with the Ballarat Magic Millions 3YO winner getting just 955m to strut his stuff however the sprinter looks very well suited to the journey, clocking exceptionally fast splits when coming from last to run 3rd in the Monash Stakes, not forgetting his run in the 2017 Magic Millions Sprint, hitting a top speed of 71.01 kp/h and almost breaking the 10-second barrier between the 600 and 400m mark which is almost unheard of in a 1200m race.

Murt the Flirt won’t be holding anything back, drawing barrier 7 in a small field with Chris Symonds to ride. He was lightning on a soft track in his only go over 1000m to date, expecting improvement with more maturity this time around on a good 4. He is currently $7.50 fixed across most bookmakers.
