Kevin Moses is in the process of rebuilding his Randwick stable and looking to Mr Unforgettable to get the ball rolling at Rosehill on Saturday.
A couple of months ago, Moses was left with just 18 horses when a syndication company decided to transfer its interests to other trainers.
The winner of seven races and almost half a million dollars prize money, Mr Unforgettable is the best-performed horse in the stable and runs in Saturday’s Schweppes Handicap (1400m).
It will be his first start since he finished out of the money in the Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich in June.
“Seventy per cent of the horses went and I’ve had to start again,” Moses said.
“I’ve got 18 horses and hopefully Mr Unforgettable can get things going.
“He’s had some back problems but we’ve worked on him. He spent the first three weeks of his preparation working at Centennial Park.
“It’s four kilometres around and something different from just going around the track.
“He’s well although he runs better with a bit of rain so I would like some between now and Saturday.”
Moses gave Mr Unforgettable three barrier trials to get him ready for his campaign.
“He’s a 100 rater and he’s hard to place so he trialled bearing in mind he was going to 1400 metres first-up.”
“The aim is to go to the Magic Millions Cup two weeks after Saturday.”
Mr Unforgettable finished third in last year’s Magic Millions Cup (1400m) won by Walking Or Dancing.
Shaun Guymer, who is indentured to Moses, takes the ride on Mr Unforgettable on Saturday.
Guymer is one of a crop of young riders led by Chad Schofield making inroads in Sydney racing and has an able teacher in his boss, a three-time Sydney premier jockey.
“Shaun is riding well and they are a good group of apprentices,” Moses said.
“We had none for about a year after Nathan and Tommy Berry, Jamie (Quinnell) and Daniel Ganderton came through.
“It seems to go in cycles.”
Schofield, who will be serving a suspension on Saturday, has a commanding lead in the junior premiership over Sam Clipperton who rides Rainbow Styling in the Schweppes.
Clipperton is in the care of Moses’ Randwick neighbour and old-time foe, eight-time Sydney premiership-winning rider Ron Quinton.
Mr Unforgettable and Rainbow Styling will each carry 55.5kg after the three kilogram claims of their riders.%
