Having abandoned the Blue Diamond Stakes campaign of one-time second favourite Diamond Glow, premier Melbourne trainer Peter Moody will dip into his well of replacements at Caulfield on Tuesday.

Moody quickly realised Diamond Glow had reached her autumn peak with her second on Saturday behind Blue Diamond favourite Miracles Of Life, announcing his filly was off to the paddock.

While Moody still has the colts Thermal Current and Dissident in Diamond contention, he has a vast selection of unraced youngsters to tap into.

Moody said several unraced two-year-olds were among the 30 horses he trialled at Sandown last week and another 20 would appear in jump-outs at Caulfield on Tuesday.

“There’s still a way to go yet before we sort them all out,” Moody said.

“We’ll find a few more, whether they’re as good as the filly who won on Saturday … we’ll have to wait and see.”

The filly who won on Saturday – Miracles Of Life – has meanwhile returned to Adelaide where she will remain until the week before the Blue Diamond which is run at Caulfield on February 23.

Moody, who is in New Zealand for the National Yearling Sale, also has his early Golden Slipper Prospect Brilliant Bisc ticking over in readiness for a return to racing in Sydney next month.

Brilliant Bisc’s credentials were confirmed on Saturday by the win at Rosehill of Guelph, a filly she beat comfortably in the Gimcrack Stakes.

While Moody sorts out his challengers, fellow Caulfield trainer Robert Smerdon will produce his top Diamond hope Politeness at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

The unraced Politeness burst unseen into Diamond calculations a week ago and now occupies the third line of betting at $11.

A filly by Street Sense, Politeness is owned by Phil Sly, one of the owners of champion mare Mosheen.

Trainer Daniel Clarken confirmed that Miracles Of Life had arrived safely in Adelaide on Monday.

Clarken said he wanted the filly to get back into her routine as quickly as possible and had no concerns about giving her a month between runs.

“She’s been around Caulfield, she has done the whole thing,” he said.

“I can’t see why she shouldn’t go straight to the Diamond.”

Third declarations for the Blue Diamond close on Tuesday.
