Bjorn Baker has stopped short of claiming Miss Invincible can live up to her name at Rosehill, but he is upbeat about the filly’s debut.

The two-year-old is the Warwick Farm trainer’s first horse out of I Am Invincible, a stallion who has produced 24 stakes winners since his racing career ended in 2009.

Baker bought Miss Invincible for $100,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale after consultation with Stuart Boman from Blandford Bloodstock.

“Stuart helped me pick her out. She’s by the stallion everyone wants,” Baker said.

Miss Invincible has so far met expectations leading into Saturday’s 2YO Plate (1100m).

“She’s shown us a lot from day dot. She’s had good trials and that gives us a lot of confidence,” Baker said.

Miss Invincible has won both her barrier trials over 735m and 901m respectively although starting out over 1100m is a slight concern for Baker.

“There’s a little bit of question mark, 1100 first-up but she’s well, she’s tough and she looks good,” he said.

Miss Invincible headed the TAB’s market on Thursday at $2.40 in an eight-horse field featuring five newcomers.

She jumps from the outside gate with Jason Collett to ride but her draw does not faze Baker.

“She’s got exceptional speed so she’ll be positive and roll forward,” he said.

Providing Miss Invincible starts her career in style she will be aimed at the Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick on December 16 and the Inglis Classic (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 10

Miss Invincible is the fourth two-year-old rolled out by Baker this season following Greyt Love, First Time Lucky and Countercurrent.

Greyt Love finished 11th in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes in September while Countercurrent won her debut at Queanbeyan earlier this month and First Time Lucky was runner-up to his stablemate.
