Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne has received a 28 day suspension following her positive result to a banned substance.
Michelle Payne fronted Racing Victoria in an inquiry this morning following a positive test to an appetite suppressant.
Payne pleaded guilty and said she took full responsibility and regretted not finding out more information from her doctor about the medication.
Payne was prescribed Phentermine by her doctor to treat gastrointestinal problems, connected to injuries sustained in a fall last year.
Racing Victoria deliberated on the findings and handed Payne a 28 day suspension.
Michelle will be free to resume riding on 21st July and will not affect her riding in the Shergar Cup.
