Comments made by Godolphin trainer John O’Shea this morning have renewed doubt that one of their gallopers is very unlikely to run in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
Tally who was expected not to run in the 2016 Melbourne Cup after his disappointing run in the Caulfield Cup where he appeared not to stay the distance was a surprise second acceptor on Monday which opened the discussion that he may infact run in the race.
John O’Shea however basically squashed that possibility this morning saying “we can find alternative challenges for Tally” when asked if would line-up in the Cup.
Tally sits on 12th in order of entry and is guaranteed a run in the race. If Tally does not line-up in the race another spot in the field will open up.
