Mary Sadler, the mother of Group One-winning trainer John Sadler, has died aged 110.
A passionate racegoer until a few years ago, Mary Sadler was Australia’s fourth oldest person when she celebrated her birthday in January.
She and her late husband Lindsay had seven children of whom John is the youngest and lived for 50 years on a farm at Glenormiston near Terang in western Victoria.
John Sadler said his mother’s health had deteriorated after a fall a few months ago.
Among the memories Mary Sadler recounted earlier this year were seeing Phar Lap race in the Melbourne Cup.
