The great Aussie callers tradition continues.
News has just filtered back to Australia that the folk at the Hong Kong Jockey Club want the same tone they’ve had for years calling their English version of the races.
So Sky Channel’s brilliant announcer Mark McNamara has just been given the coveted job.
After starting his career here, he ventured to New Zealand and became the best caller over there.
After a few years, he recently came back to Australia and has been calling thoroughbred races for Sky Channel.
But now, he packs his bags for Honkers.
He follows Robert Geller who is now calling at Woodbine, Terry Spargo who went to Dubai but is now back in Qld calling, David Raphael who went to Singapore and now is a bloodstock agent in Australia, Darren Flindell who is Sky’s chief NSW caller and most recently Brett Davis who is calling in Adelaide again.
A superb lineage and big shoes to fill, but we wish him all the very best.
