Luke Nolen the jockey of Champion sprint mare Black Caviar has stated he is unaware of the talks between trainer Chris Waller and his manager Adrian Coyne about the ride on Winx.
Nolen said he obviously would love the ride on the Champion mare in the Apollo Stakes but he thinks he is down the list of potential candidates if Hugh Bowman fails in his efforts to appeal his suspension which was imposed at the Karaka meeting on Saturday afternoon in New Zealand.
Online bookmaker Ladbrokes opened a market on who would ride Winx and Nolen’s price was hammered seeing the opening odds of $41 shorten into being the qual $3.50 favourite to take the ride.
Brenton Avdulla and Jason Collett are the other two fancied jockeys to pick-up the ride.
There are whispers about Luke Nolen riding Winx
He’d love the opportunity but isn’t holding his breath.
“I have never ridden for Chris Waller and I have not heard anything.”
