The Gr 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes over 1200m was won by local galloper BEAU ROSSA (Unencumbered – My Choisir) who stormed home to take the cash from LITCHFIELD COUNTY (Sebring – Limerock Lass) with RANTING (Zoustar – Vanilla Ice Cream) dashing late from well back to grab an impressive 3rd.
But, it was Beau Rossa and rider Todd panel, who was landing his first ever Gr 2 winner, that stole the show.
Oh, and trainer Will Clarken who took him to Caulfield last start over a mile in the Guineas where he ran 2nd.
Today, he was back to 1200m and he finishes like a train.
โThis horse we bought at the yearling sales so he is pretty special to me,โ claimed Clarken who trains at Morphettville.
“He has had his set backs, done lots of cantering and now has only had 8 starts.
โHis owners are so loyal and just kept waiting. Iโve never had a horse who has thrived so much in the stable once he gets right.
“He likes to eat.โ
And run too.
His final 600m was very impressive and he now has won 4 races from those 8 starts with a couple of placings.
He cost just $80,000 as a yearling and this win takes him over $290,000 in prize money.
Rider Pannell has won twice at Gr 1 level in his career but this is a bit special for him too re his debut Gr 2 victory.
